Wow! It is pretty crowded out there.

Hi Bigmike1
Thanks for checking out the images of the Triangulum Galaxy and for the comment. Indeed there are a lot of Galaxies out there. In the photo I took of the NGC 660 I counted more than 100 other more distant galaxies in the image. see

A couple of weeks ago I took some images of M33 though my 5 inch refractor and posted a first pass at processing the images. I went back and was more careful with the processing to bring out the color and details a bit better.
Below are the results of that processing.
The first image is an LRGB version of the image. On close inspection you can find a number of more distant galaxies in the image. Two these galaxies showed up in my star charts so I circled and labeled them in the second image. (Double download will be needed to see these galaxies).
PGC 5694 is 0.4 x 0.3 arc minutes in size and is at Magnitude 16.51.
PGC 5899 is 0.6 x 0.3 arc minutes in size and is at Magnitude 15.94.

In the Third image I replaced the data taken with a red filter with data gathered using a narrow band Hydrogen Alpha filter that tends to highlight areas of star formation with hydrogen clouds within the galaxy.
All questions and comments are welcome.

For those interested my first pass at processing these images can be found at

The first pass versions are not as good as these in my opinion.

If you want cheap filters, the good ones will run in the hundreds.

Hi DougS
Thanks for viewing the images of the Triangulum Galaxy and for the comment. Stars do make for excellent photography subjects since they don't move real fast, but in cases like this shot do require long exposures.
