It seems like a fair test would be: Take the shots in RAW, post process, not necessarily the same way, but to the best of your ability, print them 11x17 and compare the shots from normal viewing range.

Of course the Sony would win, but that would be evaluating my skills with the camera and post processing. I was just showing that in some instances the phone is a better choice...some people refuse to accept that.

If I handed my Samsung, and Sony with random settings, to most of the people I know, if not all, and ask them to take a photo there would be no doubt which camera was best

A major factor in me getting a DSLR was that I could not see the screen on the phone – neither the picture nor the controls – when outside on a sunny day. And having white-colored icons with a semi- or fully- transparent border that disappear against a light-colored subject just added insult to injury!

Digital zoom was another contributing factor. I'm running Windows Vista on my computer because it does everything I need it to do, so you can see I am a firm believer in "trailing-edge" technology. 😉

Therefore, I got my Pentax with an optical viewfinder, mechanical zoom, and visible information.

Now back to comparing my phone to the Pentax and the Canon A590 (1x to 4x optical zoom) which I picked up at a second-hand shop a little while ago...👍

I'm not sure of that. Of course the real test here it not the camera, it's the lens. I don't go anywhere without my cell camera a Galaxy A-51 which is nowhere close to state of the art but has produced some outstanding photos while my D7200 was sitting on my desk.

A Samsung Galaxy J2. Does everything I need it to, and the price was right!
