After renting on of these for the fair, I've decided I want one, so I can get out and shoot more. As I drove through the neighborhood on Halloween I really wished I had one as there were so many photo op I was missing.

I've spent hours on the internet looking at videos and researching them. I'm curious if any of my fellow Hoggers have them and if so what there thoughts are.

I bought one several months ago. See picture attached. It has a front basket for storage. I've only used it a few times but its terrific. Went to a local flea market where I spent over two hours exploring all the vendors and their wares. You wouldn't believe how many people stopped to ask Where did you get it? How much does it cost? How long does it run on a battery charge? How does it come apart?
I was able to take lots of pictures which would have been impossible to get otherwise. I do need my wife's help to take apart and put into the back of our Subaru Forrester.
Please PM me if you have further questions

I was thinking about getting one too. But I am afraid of being run over by speedsters on my country road.

If you buy one of these, I would suggest using it only when it is really necessary. People who overly rely on these things tend to become deconditioned and even gain weight from the lack of exercise.

1. If you’re a veteran you can get one for free through the VA.
2. It may also be possible for you to get one free thru your insurance or Medicare/Medicaid. I would check with your doctor or provider.
I believe your doctor would have to certify that its a medical necessity, but I’m not sure about that.

I recentlhy purchased one myself, a Caentury carrey on from Amazon. Yesterday was her maden voyage at the Parlisades center in NJ. What a feeling of freedom. I wanted something I could get in my car. I have a Chysler Paficia and the seats behind the driver and the passanger fold down into the floor giving me plenty of space for it. It was 2000 +. it has a battery bring into my house to charge.
The VA wanter to give me one larger that in needed to bring into my house to charge then there was a ramp to get it in. not very handy. so I turned them down and purchased exactly what I wnted. The money was well worth it. Think well

Hi Jim,
Yes indeed, they can be a God-send! I've worn out two and am presently using a Pride (Victory) one I very much like. At my age, it enables me to travel so many places that I would otherwise never reach. Physical exercise is always the best, but when it's impossible or not practical, the 'scooter' comes to the rescue.
God Bless,
Papa Joe

My wife is incapacitated and I bought her one 3 years ago. It weighs 80 pounds and fits in the back of our Honda CRV. She has taken it on commercial flights to Florida and Amsterdam at no charge. It has a range of 9 miles when fully charged and the speed is about 8 to 10 MPH. I have had to replace the batteries once because of a failure to recharge them. It takes two 12V batteries available from E-Bay at about $35.00 each. It is a pain to load and unload for shopping etc. when the stores have mobility carts to use. It is easier for me to go get a cart and take it back to the car for her to use. We winter in AZ in a gated community and she used it there to get around for about a year then we got and use a golf cart. Much faster and it can carry 4 people. The mobility cart is rarely used now. As I recall it think the mobility cart was about $700.00 3 years ago. Now I probably would not buy one for us. The golf cart is much more usable and convenient to use.

Yes medicare and insurance will pay for them if Dr.s say you need one - my wife gets a new one every 5 yrs.

I have used one of hers several times over the past yrs - I am 85 and have had both knees replaced - they don't hurt - just get tired-
great for street fairs, car show, county fairs and such.

Yes, at 81 I finally decided to get one because, although I can stand and walk, it is very painful. I have 17 titanium pins and screws in my feet trying to hold my feet together. Somehow, four of the pins and screws in each foot have broken and the feet have collapsed again. Since each subsequent operation to "correct" the problems require approximately 9 months of recovery, I just don't feel that at my age, I have essentially two years to devote to recovery with no assurances that the operations will be successful. I purchased a mobility scooter this year and it has proven very handy. It is a Golden Mobility scooter [https://www.google.com/search?q=golden+mobility+scooter&oq=Golden+mobility+scooter&aqs=chrome.0.0i512l2j46i175i199i512j0i512l7.7247j1j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8]. Mine is one with the controls on the toggle stick which I prefer. It breaks down into four parts for storing in the trunk or car. Each piece supposedly weighs no more than 35 or so pounds, so it is manageable. I do not have an attachment on my car to lift or carry it but that would be even more handy. It cost approximately $2,000. It is very handy in the right situations. Check carefully with the limitations before you buy. Mine works well on sidewalks, relatively smooth ground and in the suburban streets. However, you really need the "handicap" ramps to get on and off the sidewalk or you end up having to try to lift it up or down over curbs. It is not especially comfortable on side slopes. It has protection from falling over backwards but not for sideways. The battery is reputably good for about 15 miles fully charged. I think I have used for for at least 5 miles a couple of times. I am happy with mine and it is especially handy for events like car shows, state fairs and trips around parks with decent walkways or paths. It does not work well on soft ground or on leaf covered surfaces as the wheels tend to spin on the loose leaves. So, while it has drawbacks, I am happy that I purchased it. More importantly, so is my wife.
