Luck is the by-product having the best equipment.
More importantly the ability to understand how to use the"best equipment". In one of his books, Bryan Peterson, a professional photographer, and author indicates you can take great photographs with any camera.
How do you know you're not a successful photographer until you've used the best cameras?

Some of us will never know.
Myself included.

I'm glad to be only an amateur photographer. I don't tell anyone what they should buy. I have bought all of my equipment used. I had an Olympus camera I bought new that went kaput so I found a used one at KEH for a little over 50 bucks. It is a little older model but it works very well for me. I had a Canon camera I bought used with an 18 to 150mm lens but I gave it to my granddaughter who is taking a photography class at college. I also have a Nikon camera I bought used, which works very well for me. I am satisfied with the quality of pictures I get from these cameras.

Don't you enjoy photography more, not always worrying if you actually got the "best" equipment?

Funny, that's not what I'm thinking. Do you now speak for all of us? Interesting.

[edit] I took a moment to review your topics created. The truth of my words are there on display in that list too. So, I 'know' you better than seemingly you know yourself.
