Very nice photographs. When I lived in Colorado Springs and then Canon City I also fished the canyon. It is a beautiful area as your photos depict.

The first Colorado Midland passenger train chugged up Granite Canyon (now Elevenmile Canyon) in 1887. A very scenic gravel road now retraces the old Colorado Midland grade where locomotive residue can still be seen around railroad tunnels blasted through solid granite.

My husband took me to this canyon where he goes fly fishing. I had never been there and thought it would be a good day trip with camera. Not much in the way of color - it's gone - but lovely drive and scenery. The gravel and narrow road ends at the reservoir.

Thank you. I didn't know the history of the canyon. There's no trace of it now. Would have been quite a ride on a train.
