I participated in the Durango & Silverton's "Fall Photography Special" on Saturday, October 22, 2022.
Locomotive No. 476 led the way through the San Juan mountains and the Animas Canyon. The loco was repainted in Rio Grande livery and equipped with a diamond stack for the occasion. The consist was a 1970's style featuring "Denver & Rio Grande" lettering on the coaches.
The weather and lighting were great. The event was well organized and the photographers were all collegial.
Here are a few of the images from the first tranche...
I participated in the Durango & Silverton's &q... (show quote)

Fantastic set of images. My dad would be rolling over in his grave if he could see these images. He was an avid (sometime fanatical) model railroader and was extremely interested in anything related to Denver and Rio Grande narrow gauge railroads. He was always disappointed that I never got the bug. But I do like good artistic images of steam locomotives.
