Likely the option in 'Preferences' needs resetting to 'legacy'. May have been caused by not copying over user preferences when loading the latest version.

Such an odd reply. You’re experienced enough to know 95% of software problems on this forum are user error, especially when no one else has the issue. And in this case the fix is likely not adjusting preferences in the new update. Yet you seem to use this individual case to cast aspersions on the new 24.0 upgrade. Why?

No. It’s just Save a Copy, instead of Save As

My OS is Mac mini Mi 2020
When I downloaded the new PS several plugins did not copy over. Topaz (Only Gigapixel, DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI ) All my legacy Topaz filters plus Topaz Studio 2 and Smart Photo Editor were missing. I returned to the previous version for now until I have time to try to re-download all this stuff. Anyone else?

I still have Jpeg as a selection under save as and all the other choices are still there too for the new version of PS when I bring into PS a Raw File thru Camera Raw . I'm on a Windows 10 OS , I did have to copy MY filters under Plugins from the previous version of PS and Paste them in the new PS Plugin Folder to get all my programs working again under Filters . I did not have to reinstall any programs that show up under Filters to get them back . Tommy

It copied all my plugins, which is NIK, Topaz and Luminar. So far I've not found any issues.

That is not the same thing as having the 'Save As' command giving you the option of 'jpeg' in the list of file types.

You are referring to the change they made on a previous major update, which after complaints from users they then added the revert to legacy option in the preferences for the save as function.

No issues with v24. "Save, Save as, Save as Copy, Export" all work just fine, even without selecting the 'Legacy' option in preferences.

All my plug-ins transferred over except one. But that was very simple to reinstall the plug-in back into PS from inside the app.

This issue reminds me of the first time I used Windows 11. Copy and paste functionality is under a sub menu instead of a top layer menu. Why would Microsoft hide a primary function in a sub menu? Someone there thought that this was a good idea. Ridiculous! Since I don't have Windows 11, myself, there could be a way to move menu items around. Right now, I don't care to find out, since I don't own Windows 11.

What is the advantage of using "save as"? Export can be used to create jpegs.
And I just now tried it, using Photoshop 24 (not 2024). The export function still works fine.

Tip use Export-> Save for Web (Legacy) if you want to preserve the metadata in the new jpeg file.

:)

You know what I WISH they would fix? IF I use PS on my external monitor then open it later on my laptop, the window is scaled incorrectly. It's huge on the laptop and I have to use the mouse to slide it over then shrink it then slide it over then shrink it. I have given Adobe feedback about this and will continue to give Adobe feedback on this, and I have other programs that don't have this issue so I believe "Adobe has the technology" to fix it.

I definitely like that they continue to add new things and improve the tools using AI. Especially selection, It is Soooo much easier (usually) than it used to be. Viva la competition huh? ;)
