First time processing in the new Photoshop Version 24.0.0 and after bringing in my raw file .CR3 into Adobe Camera Raw, then clicking on Open to get it into Photoshop, I am unable to perform a SAVE AS to a .jpg. The default is a .psd, but the Only JPEG choice is JPEG 2000 .jpf
There is no selection in the list for regular jpeg, .jpg
I've done this thousands of time in older versions of Photoshop.
Anyone understand why there is not a .jpg option?
Is Adobe killing off the old JPEG??
You didn't state the computer platform you are using, but I'm on a PC with W11 (PS 24.0.0) and have no issue with SAVE AS to a .jpg file format. My sure that in preferences (file handling) you have the "Enable legacy "Save As"" option checked.
Are there layers in your PS files? You can't save them as .jpg with layers.

Is this the case where you need to set within 'preferences' to 'legacy' for saving. Just seen already mentioned above.

He is right you know. If you have layers in your photo you cannot save as JPG. you have lot flatten the image. Don't ask how I know
Try “save as copy” rather than “save as”.

Wow. Seems like they're trying to get everyone to abandon JPG. Is the default "no legacy"?
I just tried what you did . I went into the new bridge thru the new Ps version .Clicked on a Raw file to open in Camera raw . Made adjustments and opened it inside PS . I then clicked on Save As and Jpeg was one of the choices I had to choose from .So, it's still working the same for me . All the save as choices are still there for me too . I didn't have to make any changes under Preferences . The only problem I had was not all of my Plugins were copied to the new PS and I had to copy the Filters under the Plugin Folder to the new PS Plugin folder and then I had all my programs working again under Filters .Tommy
Thanks to all who took the time to reply to my problem.
There were no layers in the image I was trying to Save as a .jpg, so that wasn't the problem.
But, Yes the answer was that when PS updated to Version 24.0.0, it overwrote my previous Selection of "Enable Legacy Save As", which had apparently been chosen many, many years and many previous PS Versions ago.
Thanks to both UHH's fredpnm and Grahame for correctly diagnosing the problem!
I am back to being a Happy PS Camper!!

It does that sometimes. Use "save a copy" and you will have all the options
Use “Save A Copy”. JPEG does not support layers, 16 bit or 32 bit images. “Save A Copy” will convert the image to support the file type you choose, in this case 8 bit with any layers merged. “Save As” only displays file types that supports the current images features, so if your image is not a flat 8 bit image, JPEG is not displayed in the file types dialog. Alternately you can convert your image manually to a flat 8-bit image and JPEG will appear in the “Save As” file types dialog.
If you check your camera raw settings, you should find you are opening your raw files as 8-bit instead of 16-bit images. This is suboptimal if the original raw file is more than 8-bits.
