Guess I'm not to astute when it comes to navigating this site. I recently commented on some HDR real-estate photos that someone had submitted. I said "Low Contrast, Punch them Up a Bit" . Apparently this pissed off the author, not my intent. I saw Real-Estate sales photos on my screen that were poor quality for a architecture magazine but excellent for a sales brochure. Sorry if I offended you but I liked the names Washington Redskins Uncle Ben's.

Same here. I don't mind pissing off people. They will get over it. If they don't then Piss on them and the horse they rode in on too. (:

Gentlemen, gentlemen. Do you not know that 100% of all groups have a few curmudgeons. You should love your neighbor, but you don't have to like them.

At times it s better to say nothing and be thought the fool rather than open your mouth and confirm the thought.

Art, it was not the "author" who chided you, it was another respondent:

Comments in topics are as varied as the membership, and often not even related to the original post Did you read the entire topic before commenting? Your remarks landed at the bottom of page 4. Lots of good, bad and "other" on the previous pages - just like all conversations on UHH.

I believe you will find that this group has more than just a few curmudgeons.

I think it's more HOW you said it then what you said. The right thing said the right way will be better accepted.

I think Dodie hit the mark perfectly. For our Tai Chi classes our master teaches us to use a positive sandwich, that is find something good, follow it with one to three suggestions for improvement, finishing off with another positive point. The suggestions should be in the form of "try this" or something similar. For instance instead of "out of focus" try "could be a bit sharper". Another could be "try decreasing exposure a stop" instead of "overexposed".

I tend to disagree. In these days of political correctness, it’s not what you say, but what the other limp noodle person perceived you as saying. Young people these days need to grow some backbone. That’s why they have participation ribbons for school competitions these days. Everyone is a winner and no one is a loser. Try telling that to someone running for a political office.

You are correct that the narrative and attitudes of today are ridiculous. We, as adults who were raised and taught differently, can choose the better way to treat people.

Dodie, you are a voice of reason, and a breath of fresh air. Just imagine if we all remember we can choose how to behave.
