I believe the S21 does also.
Three cameras, wide, normal, telephoto.

Good points.

(Photo people, just like the unique size of a phone, and everything is point shoot with the phone.)

They also like the fact that the small size of the phone, seems less "in your face" than a camera.

I have to admit that. People just don't like (us), pointing that black box, in their direction.

Excellent thoughts.
I'd love that Nikon or Canon, could build an invisible camera, so that I don't have to
have so many photos of people's (hands) held out in front of them, while I try to shoot
a quick (historic) moment for myself.

I don't like being photographed, unless asked, but I'll never thrust my palm in front of them
just because I'm too proud to be photographed. I think only Americans do the "hands up"
thing to photographers.

One thing cellphones do not offer is a fast shutter speed when you a taking sports photos but for still photos any camera takes excellent photos no matter if it a DSLR/Mirrorless or Cellphone. It is how the user operates the camera.

Digital camera be it DSLR or Mirrorless will be better due to the larger sensor size. 3X is just a number. It varies depending on where you are starting from.

3x is a meaningful number. Yes in general 3 times is dependent on what you’re multiplying but in this case it equates to a real number.
The standard lens in the 48mp sensor is equivalent to 24mm. There is also a 13mm equivalent lens and a 77mm equivalent lens, both on 12mp sensors. So the 77mm is actually a little over 3x, (which would be 72), but at at a much lower resolution.

Why using the different lenses change the mp's? Are there different sensors for each lens?

Yep

It’s 10x zoom gets it to a 230mm equivalent at 10mp. Not nearly long enough or enough resolution to crop.

I guess it depends on what the pictures are for. For a 4x6 or 5x7, facebook, etc you probably won't see much of a difference. 11x14 and higher you will begin to see the difference.

It only shows that the phones will probably be the future of photography. If we truly look deep inside ourselves what are these conversations about? I have been reading these comparisons and conversations with a common denominator and that is the iPhone has advanced so much that we are conversing about our D850’s and mirrorless cameras vs. iPhones. Not too long ago which we all remember the talk was about digital cameras replacing film cameras. The technology at that time reminds me of the talk now about the iPhone how we felt it wasn’t good enough and then slowly but surely the digital age made the film industry a dinosaur. Every corner store used to have a film and print center and NOW, some of us have never seen or used a roll of film. I had put my camera equipment on the shelf for years and was using the iPhone because of convenience and the darn truth was the pictures was really good. I used to watch my children bring out their phones and I was lugging that damn heavy bulky camera around and started to wonder what the heck for? If one really is looking for detail and there are the features of interchangeable lenses, metering, exposure compensation and yes, holding that sweet piece of equipment in one’s hands is a sense of security and beauty, then put the phone down and separate the men from the boys.

I am not sure why everyone feels compelled to compare iPhone photos with higher-end DSLR or mirrorless kits.

Just the fact that many are making the comparisons speak volumes.

On this site, not in the so distant past, the same arguments were being made about DSLR vs mirrorless. Now mirrorless is the de facto standard with DSLR's being relegated to the 'old folks' technology. When, not if, will small sensor/lens coupled with computational/AI technology overtake even mirrorless in most capabilities?

No more GAS and lugging heavy gear around. Will that retinal implant come with a cellphone?

Without the best equipment, we're only as good as everyone with a phone.
