I recently returned from a trip to South Africa where we took a 3 day wildlife safari in a private game reserve contiguous to Kruger National Park in the northeast of the country. Here is a sample of the so-called Big 5 animals. I'm not a wildlife photographer so for this trip I rented a Nikon 100-400 S lens paired with my Z7 body and the lens did a good job in most instances. For birds and some of the more reticent animals additional reach are needed, I'd guess that a 200-600mm lens would provide the necessary reach. Focusing with the Z7 was not what you might expect from a high end camera. If I were to do it over I would rent a more appropriate body as well as a long lens. In any case I was pleasantly surprised by how much could be seen in a few days. I hope you enjoy.

Had a family friend who collected the Big Five in the 1930s. He had trophies in his study. I like yours much better
