A large mantis on about a 4"+ sunflower. From across the yard, I thought it was a dried leaf of the potted bush next to the flower. Then I saw my image when I imported it.

R7, 100-400L mk2 + 1.4x III w/adapter @ 560, 1/1600 @ f/8, ISO-800

Can't sleep so going over things, realized I cropped the image for printing/framing @ 11x14, and I am not doing that with this one, so I cropped for the best image. Here are both versions for a mini-lesson/comparison.

(Looks like it's saying "Oh my, what a pretty flower.".)

Yes, it does. But it was actually on that flower for some time, catching and eating small insects etc.

Pinched nerve in the lower spine causing pain from my lower back through my hip and down my left leg with occasional periods of numbness, and loss of strength. The hip was just sore enough it made it hard for me to sleep, esp. prone, so I was dozing in and out of twilight sitting in a lounge chair from Midnight to 4AM when I popped awake and didn't get sleepy again until just after 6AM when I was able to doze off again util just after before 8AM. So I fired up the desktop and did some net surfing etc. and got the idea for the better crop.

3 Weeks now, the meds work great but are spaced out (they can be addictive) and the effectiveness fads before the next dose and the supplemental Tylenol sometimes does the trick and sometimes doesn't. We (I and my Doctor) are into the experiment to see what works, add in the pain management people I see tomorrow and the Therapy people I will see in two weeks, and maybe I will get well short of the surgery route which can be as simple (????) as a silicone injection or replacement disks to actually doing bone work to realign and fix things and relieve the pressure.

I JUST WANT THE #$@%&! PAIN GONE!
At its worst, it has tears in my eyes and very colorful language running through my mind, since I am doing my best not to verbalize them and teach everyone around me a Master's Level course in multilingual cussing.

Why not resize and crop to 11x14?

That first crop on the other post was for 11x14 printing. https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-754521-1.html

This second crop was done for the sake of better composition of the image itself.
