Whenever there's a large body of water you never have to look far to find boats. Nice background scenery is always an added bonus.

I like the way you composed it using diagonal and horizontal lines and the repeating patterns of the mountains off into the distance where the clouds add just the right element! Nice job. Ok enough technical stuff.

How does it make me feel? That is a nice peaceful scene, it is relaxing. I can envision a warm sun, and a cool breeze, maybe a bit of a chill in the shadows.

Thank you JD. Finding the boats and the ridge lining up the way they do and a bit of natural framing thrown in was a gift. Any two of those components would have been nice. It definitely was peaceful and warm too, in or out of the shadows.

Finding it is one thing, but having the eye to "see it" when you do find it is also necessary. ;)

“O, wad some Power the giftie gie us

To see our scenery as a photographer sees it" - Robert Burns (mostly ).

The subject of composition as a whole is quite unwieldy, but there are a few simple basics that allow us to get an effective handle on it. Most people seeing the scene above would think "That's nice", but what a photograph needs is a few simple steps to lift it up above the level of "snapshot". Those steps aren't difficult or complicated, and once they are learned, all we need to do is be mindful of them.
