I took a film camera to the Arboretum to finish out a roll, but also carried my 1DX. The butterflies were thick in the demo garden, so I simply stood there and started shooting. I've been told that I get my images too dark, so I actually tried what I would call "high key" on these to get them a bit lighter. Let me know what you think. Oh, by the way, these have minimal LR PP work (clarity, a bit of contrast and sharpening and sometimes a bit of exposure correction).

Wonderful set of portraits! Luv the colors and poses- great set. Thanx for sharing.

Thanks. I love these little guys. They're actually too fast for me, but sometimes I get lucky.

I've tried to catch butterflies. No luck, Before I can take a picture they are gone. And I understand they are a dying species. Maybe next summer.

Nice pics!

I've thought all summer that there weren't many butterflies around. But yesterday, they were out in full force. I usually have difficulty getting them for the same reason. I'm simply not fast enough. I got lucky!

Looks like you have done a good job of working within the restrictions of the programs. And, you've come out the other side with some great images. Now, the next responsibility is to crop the final photos into the images that you want them to be. - I know how/what I would crop. What would you crop???
Do it. And see if you like what you have achieved.

Everyone has their "scale" for measuring what they have as a finished image vs. what they "visualized" or wanted to achieve. The next step is to show us your "vision". - And, thanks for sharing. Very good job.
