Hummers Mating

I had never witnessed hummers mating before, much less capture it in photos. The first two shots are the pair going through a courtship flight display before they "tumbled" onto my deck. I thought they were fighting, but then recognized what was really going on. They were partly hidden from me by deck railing pickets, but I managed a few shots. I hope you enjoy these images.

Cool photos. I've seen that before, but I thought they were fighting. When were these taken? That looks like a very young male. This year's hatch maybe?

Thanks, Chief. These were taken last Tuesday, 27 Sept. The male is indeed young but dominates my two feeders. I think he was here earlier in the spring too.

Getting an early start in life, I guess He's going to be hell on wheels when he's two years old, I reckon!!

Wow...these are all great shots, Bubba! That is definitely a young male. I'm guessing you must live in a warmer climate to see them mating at this time of year. It sure is fun to watch them zip through the yard, chasing each other though! Thanks for sharing!
