So!
One thing I did not ask is, do you have the USB cable to your camera, which would allow you to read or transfer the pictures directly from your camera to pc? Bypassing the card reader have you tried that option? In all the comments not sure if anyone mention that or maybe you do not have that cord and your using the card reader in place of that.

Just a thought.

Maybe I missed it but where did you source the new SD card reader from ?
I have recently had something similar. Decided to make the move to CFexpress so purchased a card and CDexpress reader. The reader did not work. Sent the reader and card back to my supplier where they found that both worked on several different systems so they returned both. I purchased a different reader from the same company. This second reader worked okay on our PCs, BOTH readers worked fine on two different laptops, but only the 2nd sourced reader worked on the PCs. So basically a USB chipset issue between the reader and two PCs (which were identical).
I have decided to keep the first reader because it will most likely work on replacement PCs when we next upgrade and it does work on the laptops plus the second reader works okay on the PCs.
So you can have chipset issues - just a point to beware of.

Beyond the windows versions, has anything else changed in the last month? Any new cameras, any new SD readers, any new software, any new SD cards, other? Did you ever recover from last month's problem?

No to all questions. I did have trouble with my email shortly before this problem began.

I have an SD card slot in my Dell XPS still on Windows 10. About a year ago, maybe 2, that slot stopped working. I eventually found the Windows driver was out of date and the OS has stopped recognizing the slot. You might start at the website of your SD vendor's equipment and see if they have any drivers to download.

google sd card reader won't work

The search above comes back with lots of cell phone issues, but others have some windows issues. You might add 'windows' into the search and see if you can stumble onto a useful idea. If the driver is the issue, customize the google to your model / maker and see if that leads directly to a common driver issue.

One Drive is Microsoft’s cloud based storage system. If you Google search Microsoft One Drive, it will give you more information.

OneDrive is a maddening Microsoft cloud storage application. I disabled it (to the extent I could) but it sometimes tries to resurrect itself, as it is integrated into the Windows OS. That could be what your computer is trying to use to download the images.

I still say you need to go into Device Manager and check/update the card reader settings. Should be in the Universal Serial Bus (USB) folder.

About a month ago I posted that I was having problems with my SD card reader. When I plugged in a card I would get a screen indicating that the computer was looking for new pictures to upload, but it would never find any. I uploaded Windows 11 but that made no difference. Any ideas? Thanks

My daughter made some changes to my windows program which helped at first, but now the computer doesn't recognize the card reader at all; nothing happens when the reader is plugged into the USB port. Any ideas? Thanks

Hello
Seems to be an issue within Windows.
1. Open control panel
2. Systems
3. Device Manager
4. Once open plug a USB device to see if your system picks it up
5. On your card reader try a different USB port on your PC to see what happens if anything.
6. Also maybe try using a USB stick, or another USB device in that USB port to see if it reads it.
