About a month ago I posted that I was having problems with my SD card reader. When I plugged in a card I would get a screen indicating that the computer was looking for new pictures to upload, but it would never find any. I uploaded Windows 11 but that made no difference. Any ideas? Thanks
What software was looking for new pictures to upload?

Beyond the windows versions, has anything else changed in the last month? Any new cameras, any new SD readers, any new software, any new SD cards, other? Did you ever recover from last month's problem?

Forgot to mention I got a new SD card reader but the problem persists
Hello
Consider replacing the card reader, even if it was not working when you were running Windows 10, and you have now upgraded the Windows 11, and still not working. So at this point replace the card reader.

Does Explorer recognize the reader?
Did you wait for Windows to recognize the reader and get the necessary drivers?
Did you plug the reader in, Wait for windows ro recognize the card, then insert the memory card?

Auto-import features are a royal pain, especially if you use several different applications to edit files for different workflows. I turn them all off, copy images manually, and import files from WITHIN the applications I use.
Turn off ALL applications' preferences that want to upload files from camera cards. On some systems, there is a preference for which application will auto-import files when a storage medium with a DCIM folder is detected. I set mine to NONE or DO NOTHING.
Use the Windows Explorer tool to copy the contents of the card to a directory on your drive. Open the DCIM folder on the SD card. If there is an image subfolder, open that. Select all the files (raw or JPEG) and copy them to a new folder/directory on your computer. Import the images from that folder into whatever software you use.
For Mac users, you can turn off the auto-import feature in either Photos or Image Capture.

I didn't know Windows had that (Auto-Import), I always just manually transfer, that way I get things exactly where I want them.

That's my method too. I happen to use FastStone Image Viewer to peruse the RAW images. I select the RAW images I want to process and then save them to my Windows image folder/sub folders on my dedicated internal SSD for images. I save the RAW images to one of my two NVMe drives. I also do redundant backups of all my drives (6) to 4 external drives.

Just a stab in the dark: Is it possible you inadvertently move the small switch on the left side of the SD card? It should be in the up position. That would cause the unusual behavior.
Hope you find the solution. I know how frustrating that can be.

Format the card first, (with no pictures on it when it's new) in the camera, then try and download on to your computer.
OK (card reader)
So since replacing the card reader does your system see the new hardware once you plug it in?
1. Address the card reader with your system before trying to read any sd cards.
2. My thought process is to fix one thing at a time first. Does the card reader and your PC communicate at this point?
3. Under the Device Manager in Windows does it see the new hardware?
