The Blue Jays were trying to secure their wildcard playoff spot. The previous series with the Red Sox, one pitcher challenged Judge several times with fast balls in the zone.

From reports and interviews, Judge is a great role model and person. Congratulations!

I've heard it said that if more of the great batters played in NY there would be many more of 60+ HR's in a season due to the short outfield distances. Wonder if Judge would have that many in a real stadium

Now try having a team that had 4! 20 game+ winning pitchers on a single team; the 1971 Baltimore Orioles.
Palmer, Dobson, McNally and Cuellar.

Finally, the monkey is off of Judge's back. What a relief! 61 years ago (I remember it well) in 1961 Roger Maris hit his 61st home run. I have to agree with David Cone, " this is one of the greatest offensive seasons in baseball". You have to feel sorry for the couple of fans that couldn't catch the money ball. It must've been like watching your winning million dollar lotto ticket fly out of your hand at the Grand Canyon. What a ball player!! "All rise, here comes the Judge."

Wait for #62 or more...

According to Statcast Judge only hit two home runs this year that would have only been home runs at Yankee Stadium. The guy is a beast and doesn't hit cheap home runs.

Number 61 left his bat at 117.5 mph, his hardest hit homer of the season.

Stupendous achievement, but I wish he hit #61 in his 154th game vice 155th. BTW, I am a Dodgers fan since the early 50's. I wore a Brooklyn Dodgers t-shirt to a local AA game a few years ago. The fan behind me was a Yankees fan wearing a Yankees hat from the same era. We had a great chat. Lots of player name dropping.

Not only that Dennis. But they have an asterisk by their name, which implicates steroid use! Take a look at McGuire's rooky card. The guy was built like a stick and then look at him during his last year in the game and he looked like Dwayne Johnson. Pretty much the same with Sosa and Bonds. All nice guys to be sure, but they didn't play by the rules, which is why they'll never be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In my book McGuire, Sosa and Bond's homers don't even count! For the same reason Roger Clemens and A-Rod will never be inducted. I couldn't care less about A-Rod but I liked Clemens.
Imagine two cars racing for pink slips and then come to find that the winner had a tank of nitrous oxide in his trunk or like Lia Thomas (transgender <male>) breaking all the records in women's swimming. There have to be rules and these guys broke them.

With baseball constantly updating its rules, I think one that might be worth looking at would be that a batter could only receive an automatic walk once in a game. It is unfair to both the player and the fans for a team to constantly refuse to throw to a batter.

As of September 28th, Judge had been intentionally walked 18 times this season. That averages 3 times per month. Not that bad, really. Not enough to affect his home run chase.

But how about the many times where they pitch him so carefully, trying for the corners or to sucker him on a bad pitch, that they walk him; maybe not strictly intentional, but still functionally so!

I played (caught) against Ted Simmons in an end of the year county tournament when we were seniors. That's exactly how we pitched him. He was just elected to the MLB HOF two years ago. When he retired he had the record for most doubles by a catcher. He hit one off us and I can believe it. In another at bat, he fouled two off and we got him to 1-2. We went for three straight low and outside pitches. All three couldn't have missed by more more than a razor blade. He took all three and walked. What a great eye. The swing on that double? Best swing I ever saw.

I was confused for a while about all the "excitement" over Judge getting to 61 home runs when Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa hit 70 and 66 respectfully back in 1998 until it dawned on me -- unlike McGuire and Sosa, Judge and Maris are both New York Yankees (DUH!).

“Thirty-six of Judge's home runs have been "no-doubt" home runs -- that means they would be gone at all 30 MLB ballparks. The hitter with the next-most no-doubter home runs this year is Austin Riley, with 21.

• Judge's 61st home run, to tie Maris, was hit 117.4 mph -- his hardest homer of the season. It's the hardest home run Judge has hit since Sept. 30, 2017, the 52nd and final homer of his AL Rookie of the Year campaign. That one was hit 118.3 mph and went 496 feet.

• Judge's first 60 home runs were split perfectly between home and road games -- his 60th gave him 30 at Yankee Stadium and 30 away from it. Judge already holds the Yankee Stadium single-season home run record with the 33 he hit there in 2017; Maris (30 in 1961) and Gehrig (30 in 1934) are the others to hit 30 homers in one season at any of the Yankee Stadiums. (Babe Ruth hit 32 at the Yankees' home park of the Polo Grounds in 1921.)

Judge hit Nos. 61 and 62 in Toronto and Texas, respectively, bringing his season totals to 30 homers at home, 32 on the road.”
