Finally, the monkey is off of Judge's back. What a relief! 61 years ago (I remember it well) in 1961 Roger Maris hit his 61st home run. I have to agree with David Cone, " this is one of the greatest offensive seasons in baseball". You have to feel sorry for the couple of fans that couldn't catch the money ball. It must've been like watching your winning million dollar lotto ticket fly out of your hand at the Grand Canyon. What a ball player!! "All rise, here comes the Judge."

As a die-hard Red Sox fan, it gives me great pleasure to say to Aaron Judge: Well deserved sir! Its been a lot of fun watching this amazing season. I hope he gets at least a few more.

Yes, I am a Sox fan, but I'm a baseball fan first.

I hope that 62 comes quickly now that the pressure is off him.

Meh, I'm a Red Sox fan. Could care less about Judge or much less any other individual records. Team wins and ultimately The World Series win that matters.

You are right -- one of the greatest seasons in baseball ever. Besides Judge's historic HRs, Pujols hit his 700th HR, Wainright and Molina broke the record for battery mates (a record that will likely never be broken). Judge is the only player in baseball that could perhaps someday break into the 700 HR club which currently has only four members.

A more reasonable target for Judge would be 500 career home runs. He'll be 31 years old at the start of next year's season, hopefully as a Yankee, because he decided to go to college rather than sign out of high school.

The feeling is that he'll be offered a 7 or 8 year contract when he hits the free agent market after this season.

He currently has 219 career home runs. To hit 700 he would need to have a season similar to the current year for just about every year of his next contract.

That would be amazing for someone to have multiple years of 60 + home runs. I think if he were to develop a history of doing that or coming close, he would be getting a lot of automatic walks!

That was happening the past couple of weeks.

The night before he got number 61 he had 5 plate appearances and walked 4 times.

The Blue Jays were trying to secure their wildcard playoff spot. The previous series with the Red Sox, one pitcher challenged Judge several times with fast balls in the zone.

From reports and interviews, Judge is a great role model and person. Congratulations!

I was confused for a while about all the "excitement" over Judge getting to 61 home runs when Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa hit 70 and 66 respectfully back in 1998 until it dawned on me -- unlike McGuire and Sosa, Judge and Maris are both New York Yankees (DUH!).

With baseball constantly updating its rules, I think one that might be worth looking at would be that a batter could only receive an automatic walk once in a game. It is unfair to both the player and the fans for a team to constantly refuse to throw to a batter.

Not only that Dennis. But they have an asterisk by their name, which implicates steroid use! Take a look at McGuire's rooky card. The guy was built like a stick and then look at him during his last year in the game and he looked like Dwayne Johnson. Pretty much the same with Sosa and Bonds. All nice guys to be sure, but they didn't play by the rules, which is why they'll never be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In my book McGuire, Sosa and Bond's homers don't even count! For the same reason Roger Clemens and A-Rod will never be inducted. I couldn't care less about A-Rod but I liked Clemens.
Imagine two cars racing for pink slips and then come to find that the winner had a tank of nitrous oxide in his trunk or like Lia Thomas (transgender <male>) breaking all the records in women's swimming. There have to be rules and these guys broke them.
