We didn't dodge a bullet, we dodged a cannon ball! I want to profoundly thank UHH members for your kind thoughts, prayers and well wishes for my safety during Hurricane Ian, it is GREATLY appreciated. Lots of leaves and very small debris was all we got. In my area winds were around 90 MPH with lots of rain. What was truly amazing was that we did not lose power. Quite a few flickers but was back on in about 30 seconds. Ian made land fall in the Fort Meyers area which is about 90 miles south of where I live.
I now want to turn your attention to the following members which could have been Impacted by Ian:
TriX - (Gary) - N. Carolina - Could be heading close to you
Nimbushopper - (Gary) - Already said he made out OK
Bobupa - Venice - Close to Ft. Meyers
Nosaj - South Sarasota
Andesbill - Naples
Fl Streetrodder Lake Placid - Could have been in Ian's N.E. path across Florida
Judy795 - Venice
If any of you can check in please do so.
Again, thank you all for your concern.

Don

I’m late to the rodeo as we were in a pretty hard hit area. This is my first day back as just got internet back after it went out on 9/28. Water out 3 days, power out 4 days. We were the lucky ones.

We live in Rotonda West, which is south and east of Venice, west of Port Charlotte. Not the hardest hit certainly but enough. We stayed throughout the storm and did well considering. Lost ridge caps but not shingles. Lost screens on the pool cage, just shredded, but only one roof beam in the pool cage. Had water pouring in through the double front doors and front windows. All hurricane impact resistant so no storm shutters and all glass held up. We watched as the neighbor across the small canal lost his pool cage, dumping it into the pool. New house, lived there less than a year. Many big beautiful trees uprooted and pool cages lost. We’re safe and fine.
Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel were so hard hit, it’s hard to imagine.
Keep well, fellow/sister Floridians. We will recover!
