I’m in zone b but on east side of 75
I live in zone D in Naples. It’s nasty. I’m concerned about surge- 2:45PM is high tide here.
So far, so good here in Lake Placid, FL. Not our first rodeo, as we've been here since 2004 - 3.5 inches of rain overnight and some winds in the 25-30mph range. I was relieved when the track shifted to the south of the Tampa area as the potential storm surge in Tampa Bay would have been a truly serious and destructive event. Our weather radio lit up a couple of times with tornado warnings, but nothing came of that.

Hi neighbor: I’m in south Sarasota. In a zone D but very vulnerable.
And I am in Venice near River Road and 75 and the Myakka River.

For all of you who are either in the path of or near the path of IAN, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Take good care and stay safe

Here in Tampa we dodged a bullet as the storm made landfall by Ft Meyers and went north east. We only got tropical force winds out of the NE actually pushing the waters away from the coast in a phenomenon called negative surge.
All those communities south of us were not so fortunate and the devastation is massive.
We didn't dodge a bullet, we dodged a cannon ball! I want to profoundly thank UHH members for your kind thoughts, prayers and well wishes for my safety during Hurricane Ian, it is GREATLY appreciated. Lots of leaves and very small debris was all we got. In my area winds were around 90 MPH with lots of rain. What was truly amazing was that we did not lose power. Quite a few flickers but was back on in about 30 seconds. Ian made land fall in the Fort Meyers area which is about 90 miles south of where I live.
I now want to turn your attention to the following members which could have been Impacted by Ian:
TriX - (Gary) - N. Carolina - Could be heading close to you
Nimbushopper - (Gary) - Already said he made out OK
Bobupa - Venice - Close to Ft. Meyers
Nosaj - South Sarasota
Andesbill - Naples
Fl Streetrodder Lake Placid - Could have been in Ian's N.E. path across Florida
Judy795 - Venice
If any of you can check in please do so.
Again, thank you all for your concern.
Don
This damage was 4 houses from me and was the worst that I saw in our subdivision. The tree fell on the rear corner of the house.

Thanks Don and glad you made it with minimal damage - a true blessing. It’s headed to us after Charleston, and every 12 hours, it moves further east closer to Raleigh and our wind predictions keep getting higher. I’m gun shy after Fran. We live in a small forest in the midst of VERY large trees with 6-8 that can crush our house like a bug. Made all our preparations and nothing to do but wait.
Best wishes and good luck to everyone else in the path and prayers for those in the Florida and especially the Fort Meyers area who got clobbered.
Chris
The Indian gods mostly saved Venice again at the expense of Ft Myers. My house is ok I was told, as I am not there. No flooding. Still no power so a relative can’t get in to check and mostly no cell service.
The historical Venice Theater was badly torn up I have seen from photos.
Thanks for asking.
Judy
We lost 2 screens. We were very fortunate. This was my umpty umpth hurricane. I even went through 2 in the Catskills.
