planepics Loc: St. Louis burbs, but originally Chicago burbs

Just finished setting up my Denon AVR-X4700H about an hour ago and started playing with it. It has probably 10X the sound decoders as my old Sony. Audyssey was a little weird. Couldn't make it understand I only have one listening position instead of eight (normally) for watching movies so I repeated seating area one a couple times but decided to calibrate for the floor in case someone wanted to snuggle in front of my chair with a pillow. I had to turn up my sub volume, too. It gave me a Db meter on the screen and I was supposed to match it to 75 Db. It took several minutes to go through my six speakers with the chirps and the correct for the room harmonics. It seems to have done a decent job, but I really don't have anything to compare it to since I've never had the ability to sonically map my room - the receiver came with a mike and a cardboard tripod. I closed the drapes and the door hoping it would help since that's how I watch movies...The Fifth Element sounded great, though :) As yet, I haven't hooked up the stereo antennas or my VCR (which includes a DVD recorder for copying tapes). I'm eventually going to get a pair of Atmos-integrated mains or stand-alone Atmos speakers. I really don't have any more room for more (at this time). I think I'm going to have fun experimenting with all the settings! Now I gotta try to sell my old receiver.
