Then I would consider the items "used". Not that this is necessarily bad or good. It just is what it is.
And then I'd look for feedback about the store itself.
Hmmm, it looks like they have mixed reviews:
https://www.trustpilot.com/review/ssephotovideo.comYes, I saw that, mixed reviews.
I bought a "refurbished" Google phone from Amazon and was pretty disappointed as it was clearly not Refurbished, but instead, very used. It was for my wife and she didn't care as long as it worked. I was a little pissed off. I have no doubt that Amazon would have made things right if I had raised a ruckus. Buyer Beware.

In need of a new (another) lens and asking if anyone has purchased a refurbished or 'renewed' lens from Amazon. They list a 90-day guarantee and of course, free shipping back if not satisfied? I've seen some pretty good prices on some lens I'm looking at and asking for any experiences. Thanks in advance for your comments and feedback....Cheers
Define "refurbish"
Did they take it apart, clean, check, and reassemble?
Or just wipe it off and look thru it,
I see ads for "refurbished" hard disc drives.
All most folk will do is just wipe them off and reformat. R2R.
I have bought two cameras and a few lenses from the Canon site's refurbished section. No problems with anything. A Canon Rep I meet at a show told me he had a friend who was one of the techs at Canon USA who did the inspections etc. for the refurb items and his friend said they got a more extensive going over than things coming down the assembly line.
That Rep highly recommended buying factory refurbished from the Canon on line store. At shows etc he had never had a problem with a certified refurb but over the years did have a couple of minor glitches with New In Box stuff.

Thanks Steve, they probably would have but its the hassle...

Thanks Robert, agree, I would considered any of these 'used' since they do not say factory refurbished. Lots of options out there though....Cheers

Most refurbished is the result of generous return policy which is needed because today many of us have to buy stuff sight unseen.
Be careful from Amazon, there are so many people selling counterfeit crap. I gave up my prime because its so bad. You need to look at who is sellong and investigate them, try KEH, adorama, B AND H or even the cameras website. Might cost a few bucks more but you will have peace of mind. I buy refurbished computers and stuff all the time. I always say they are better than new because when the component is returned its inspected and repaired if it needs reparing. New products are just boxed up and shipped and evey once in a while they pull one tominspect.

One way to avod a lot of the counterfeit crap is to go to the brand's site and check if the seller is a factory authorized dealer.
And of course there is the old "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is."

It could have been worse.
I recall some years ago someone bought an "open box" Canon 5D Mark ? from Amazon. When it arrived they were a bit disappointed to find a couple chunks of wood in the box... no camera in sight!
Amazon made it right, but we had a laugh and always wondered what happened to the camera. Did Amazon accept a return and not even look inside the box to see if the camera was still there? Or perhaps someone in the Amazon warehouse quit their job to start a new photography business? Or was there a FedEx/UPS driver who needed a full frame upgrade?

I do computers, also. It either works- or it don't.
A bit on Speccy, and a "burn-in" program, lets you know.
I mostly do cMacPros, as Apple users are usually screw driver illiterate.
My D600 was sent to Nikon in Chatsworth "just in case" of the greasy shutter issue.
It's now a "refurbed D610, in a D600 body, according to the tech who did it.
Including "new" warranty!
So far I've been more than pleased with KEH. I've *always* gotten better than expected.
BUTT I see "refurbed" lenses, cameras, hard drives, etc from no-name new sellers.
Yeah- they are just used. Estate, swap meet, garage sale, deader's just "found".
Look at the photos, compare them and prices, buyer beware.

Oh yeah for sure. I love Amazon and I've had almost no problems ever in all the years I've been doing business with them. Every time, they've made it right.
