You were, but Panasonic does FF too.

Can you put a Panasonic FF lens on a Panasonic M43 body? No. You can't. So what does Panasonic have to do with this discussion? Nothing.

And yet some people enjoy the quips.

When he gets serious and puts out useable information, he is really good.

Then it seems like the quips started about a year or two ago, and they were really funny. But lately it seems the quips have taken on a darker side, or a commercial twist. Or they are driven by something else. Like I said in another thread, it seems like a lot of his comments parallel what I see on TV during NASCAR driver interviews, where the drivers are paid every time a drink container touches their lips. Doesn't matter if they actually take a drink, or if the cap is on or off the container, as long as it touches their lips. Product exposure is what counts. Considering how often he seems to be pushing the purchase of a new (Canon especially) mirrorless cameras and lenses, implying that it's automatically going to make you a better photographer, or that you can't possibly achieve greatness without buying new, you can see how I make that connection. It's like TV ads that run back-to-back or on every commercial break during a program, boring and annoying. So, I can't help but wonder, what's really going on? He is setting himself on a very fine line.

Do you now understand where I am coming from?

Does he?

How many other people are wondering what he is truly saying?

How many people is he alienating?

I'm just trying to get him to reflect upon and consider what he is saying.

I've no problem with any of his posts.......

But maybe some people believe he should "conform" to the "norm".

I don't think he is actually pushing upgrades, though he can have an intelligent discussion about why something may be better for some people. My take on him is that he's making fun of people who actually believe what he's saying, particularly when he says that you can't be a good photographer without a mirrorless camera or a full frame camera.

True on both counts.

Some people take some of the things he says SO seriously it triggers pain.

If you want to be a better photographer, there are two things you must do above all others: buy a mirrorless camera and use it.

I tried that, but it didn't work. Oh, wait--you mean a camera with a lens on it?

"although you can use a full frame lens on a crop sensor camera, you will get better results using APC lenses with an APC camera." The context is using either a full frame lens or APC lens on APC camera.

Yep, nothing at all there about camera brands that provide both FF and crop. Fuji makes some very fast lenses.

And if you want to keep your blood pressure down and avoid choking with laughter don't pay attention to CHG_CANON's pronouncements.🙄🙄🙄😁😎

I grew up in the South where "arguing and fussing" are an art form, then Regular Army where you added insults and cuts with an elevation to "High Art". In 35 years I had a lot of students have to finally admit they didn't stand a chance against me in a verbal "cutting" contest. But being retired since June 2007 I have mellowed a lot. A couple of deluded people have even referred to me as "sweet". They weren't really paying attention.

I do it all the time. Most of my lenses are FX lenses and I use them regularly on my DX bodies. Works great. Better results if I used DX lenses? I very much doubt that.

Same here. I can see no difference in results compared dx vs fx lenses on a crop sensor body.

Was shooting today with 70-200 F4 L on a 70D. The images were very sharp edge to edge. This is one of those lenses you can go both ways with and not lose anything.

FYI, CHG_CANON does not get under my skin, doesn't raise my blood pressure. After 33 years of teaching, it takes a lot more than that. Now that I have read this latest post of yours, and few others, a few connections have "clicked". Maybe the missing person-to-person voice inflections would have made the difference and I would have caught on. I have noticed similar remarks about "arguments" on the hog.

Your short history lesson was very enlightening. I now better understand a lot of the comments you have made in the past. You remind me of my older sister. She too is quite skilled in that fine art of "cutting", much better than I. I would like to see you and her go head-to-head. That would be interesting and probably fall down funny. And that comment about people referring to you as being "sweet"? So many people tell me how nice my wife is. I just look at them, smile, and tell them. "You don't know her." I'm betting your wife does the same thing. Or at least thinks it.

I shall try to read Paul's comments in a different light.
