“Classified” or Not!

All the documents that Trump possessed at his unsecured residence, “classified” or not, belonged to the American people.
Trump’s selfish disregard for Title 18, 2071, goes beyond belief. He is a thief, and a stupid one at that.
The FBI did their jobs, in attempting to retrieve this stolen property for months, and then taking legal steps to retrieve what was stolen, to protect the interests of National Security.
If a stolen property is found in a personal residence, the owner is arrested and charged with a crime. He or she is not given the opportunity to simply return the stolen stuff without consequences.
No man is above the law—Trump must be indicted to preserve the rule of law in this fading Republic.

In his braggadocios way, Trump has confessed to the serious crime of taking and illegally possessing highly classified documents... it would be easy in this disposable-phone world to photograph and send them to a foreign power untraceable. Why, for money in a Swiss account of course... and for bragging about it to his love-letter friends Putin and Kim Jong-un Supreme Leader of North Korea.

Trump claims he like a priest's magic hand, declassified documents... a form of exorcism?... well I guess they can be published in a newspaper... no problem?? after all they are just papers now, no secrets.

Classified or not, the real question is why specific files on top secret nuclear related documentation, top secret intelligence file on French President Macron. What possible purpose would Trump have for taking these files?

Well, on that basis Hillary is guilty as sin since she had classified documents on a server at her home, yet you continue to support her. What a hypocrite. It should also be pointed out that all recent presidents have their own papers in their own library. Obama has something like 30 million documents in Chicago. So, perhaps you are not fully understanding the law you are citing.

If Trump ever builds a library, it can be built so as to house confidential documents, as I believe is the practice. That isn't what we have here. For generally not knowing anything you sure are opinionated.

“”” August 12, 2022, statement

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) assumed exclusive legal and physical custody of Obama P**********l records when President Barack Obama left office in 2017, in accordance with the P**********l Records Act (PRA). NARA moved approximately 30 million pages of unclassified records to a NARA facility in the Chicago area where they are maintained exclusively by NARA. Additionally, NARA maintains the classified Obama P**********l records in a NARA facility in the Washington, DC, area. As required by the PRA, former President Obama has no control over where and how NARA stores the P**********l records of his Administration.

And you know there were nuke related files and Macron files how?

Hearsay on the news?

Time will tell what docs the FBI picked up.

If they don't find nuke files or files that could harm nat'l security...they will have ensured another trump presidency.

If all they get is "he had some files he should not have taken" then this is going to utterly blow up in the left's faces.

They better have something to nail his hide to the barn door...or he will be POTUS again.

It will play right into his pitiful "I am so mistreated by the government" schtick...and his minions will eat it up.

Every time someone (Dems, DOJ, FBI, ...) gets a new and more powerful weapon against Trump he gets more and stronger body armour from his Retrumplican supporters who are willing to stand between him and the k**l shot. He should have been taken down onto his knees with a BB gun early on; now not even a Howitzer seems likely to succeed.

I've rechecked my sources, and at this point I must withdraw my question about nuclear secrets and a file on Macron. It was third hand information; I should have done better research before posting that.

However, the question remains, why did trump turnover documents in January, and again in June, only have to be raided to recover the rest? What was his intent in withholding from two requests?

From the way I read the tea leaves, many republicans like what trump did but not in the way he did it. Enter a "smart trump" and the democrats are toast. If you are you listening Gov. DeSantis, trump is making things easy for you.

I did not say that Obama was guilty of a crime. I said that he had private records. And, he does. If you read the P**********l Records Act you will see that the courts have routinely recognized former President's rights to keep their records, and that they are allowed to negotiate with NARA about all documents. Also, there is no timeline set for that negotiation. As near as I can tell, Trump has absolutely followed the letter of the law regarding the PRA just like Obama did. The only one who was guilty of mishandling records is Clinton and she has been given a pass.
