I guess with countless thousands of my photos published in magazines, newspapers, books, and many others hanging in museums and in permanent collections around the world over the past four+ decades of my professional photojournalist career, and often used in university photography courses , maybe some of these images will endure and be of some informative, educational and artistic value beyond my time.

Cheers and best to you all.

Cool, bet you're happy.

(Some of us don't need the notoriety.)

Many years from now lots of people will still be looking at the photos,
and wondering who G. Williams was.
Like whoever the guy was that took the iconic picture of the sailor kissing the nurse in the street.

How many here make timeless photos and how many make snapshots that will die with them?
I mean die by no one will care nor cull through the thousands of snapshots but dispose of them as meaningless to anyone but the author.

How many people make timeless photos on this site and do not share them with anyone other than themselves? I suspect it is a similar number to those that make snapshots that will die with them. Yes, it is disappointing as far as I am concerned. But it is not uncommon. Look at how many smartphone photos go unsent and, if sent, are never seen by the public in general. Smartphones number over 5 billion easy and the daily photos by them are probably at least double that. I would be willing to bet a larger percentage of photos are shown on UHH than those by smartphone photo takers.

I think capturing the decisive moment is a big part of what you are calling “timeless”.

However no matter what, unless you have displays in galleries and art museums then “Nobody cares about your photos.” This is a hard truth that once accepted, makes life easier.

I recently ran across this snapshot of me taken about 75 years ago, probably by my mother. I'm glad to have it. I'd be just as glad to have it if it wasn't me in the photo.

All my photographs timeless!
If nobody else agrees with me, what do I care? I don’t take pictures to get people to pat me on the back and tell me how wonderful I am. I take pictures to please myself.

I have a framed B&W photo of myself and my two brothers on my desk as I write this. It was taken by my mother 74 years ago and I would not trade it for anything. To me, that is timeless. To anyone else, "Meh."

I have another photograph of my kindergarten class (1950). The only two people in that class that I kept up with are dead. No one else on this earth cares one whit about that photo but to me, it's timeless.

So "timeless" is a variable that changes from person to person.

Doubt if anyone will give a damn. Wife doesn't even know how to get into Lightroom.

Amazing how that works out.... unfortunately.

The only one who highly values the images is the photographer.
Who else in the family would be interested in getting thousands of them and,
what would they do with them....... save them? For what?
My wife doesn't use an editor either. At least mine are saved in subject directories so my wife can find them using File Explorer.....

Reality sometimes stinks.
