I like to pull up Marty Robbins on YouTube and just let his songs go from song to song. So many great ones. Here is, perhaps, the ultimate sad cowboy romance, El Paso.

Here's one of his non-western songs that was one of his best. Singin' the Blues.

My all-time favorite "country" singer. I relearned the El Paso guitar intro just last week. Love it.

Perry and Botello....I've been listening to him off my computer, but I've got to buy his Gunfighter Ballads album if nothing else. I may buy others as well.

Gotta be “Don’t Worry Bout Me” recorded in 1961. My favorite Marty Robbins song, followed closely by, and maybe tied with “A White Sport Coat And A Pink Carnation”. Two of my favorites.

He is one of my favorites, too! Although in those days, the cowboy would probably be in much more trouble for stealing that horse than he would for shooting the other guy.

Steven Hunter even wrote a book with "Big Iron" as the theme. FWIW When I was stationed in El Paso, I found a Rose's Cantina!(Probably not the original!)

Here is another great western ballad. It ranks right up there with El Paso. Big Iron.

Even the Grateful Dead appreciated Marty Robbins tunes. El Paso and Big Iron were a couple of concert favorites among Deadheads.

I really enjoy his singing. How many people know that he was also a first-rate race driver and participated in several NASCAR races.

I saw Marty live many years ago. He told his joke about why he played that small guitar, and at the end of the show, or what was supposed to be the end, the venue had to turn off the lights to get him to stop. He said he would play as long as we would listen to him. Great show and great Showman.
