Had I quoted you I would have been speaking to you directly. I was not. Instead I was talking to the group. Everyone. Yes, in the past you were involved in some of this. In this case you did not start this nonsense. You asked a question. You were attacked. This is an ongoing issue even while you were away.

Maybe it’s time for everyone to reset and be a little more positive. This is destructive and even beginning to make me question my involvement with the site, including moderation one section.

With the idiotic fights about equipment, brands raw v jpegs and very little discussion on art this site is becoming a liability rather than a benefit in my photography.

Bravo. True words of positive wisdom. Food fights have no place here. As to equipment--the main topics-----most cameras and lenses made in the past ten years and probably twenty in the digital workings are quite adequate to express properly the "Art of Photography" or Art through the Photographic lens. And film cameras well over a hundred years old are quite adequate probably in many more ways than those of the digital sensor era. It all depends on what best fits the "artist" if, in fact the photographer is that.----

Fortunately most transactions go through as hoped and don't need "customer service support." But in the few instances when their is a problem---don't expect much or any help from eBay. If you use Paypal--you can get your money back.

Recently I purchased a camera body from a Canadian seller who promptly shipped from Toronto. Canadian post took it to customs located in Chicago in just one day. I am located 200 miles N of Chicago. Now the tracking stopped at customs. Next Monday it will have been at customs for two weeks without word or further tracking. The seller sold and shipped in good faith and is not to blame for the delay. Orders from China, Japan and elsewhere don't languish that long. One jumps through many hoops to even get a question answered by eBay and I finally got one saying they would not consider it until the estimated time in customs ends Monday after two weeks. The seller suggested they told him customs would probably be returning the camera to him and that I should lodge a return with eBay and if returned to Toronto--re-order. That certainly makes one question placing orders out of the country. But then I was cheated out of $87. earlier this year by a woman in country, with no help from eBay, but wasted much time. I know that photographers who mostly use used equipment are forced to transact on eBay. Ebay has the online monopoly. And caveat emptor. But don't expect to fulfill your hopes until you have it in your hands and have tried it out.---------

No one is forced to transact on eBay. There are numerous forums out there including UHH that where buying and selling is transacted.

Always use a payment method that you have stop payment recourse.

You are blaming eBay over a customs issue? eBay has absolutely nothing to do with customs issues. The seller, the shipping company, and customs for Canada and US; they have everything to do with customs.

All eBay does is require you to wait a certain amount of time before they require a refund. Given the delays in shipping that have resulted from COVID, that is not unreasonable.

If you shop eBay enough, you will encounter issues. Most can be resolved. The difficult ones are fraud by the seller (they ship something other than what you ordered) or misdelivery by the shipping company (they say it was delivered, but they delivered it to someone else). These take effort on the part of the buyer to resolve. Your problem? Just wait, and you will either get your package or a refund.

My problem is trying to find "customer Service" on eBay that is not some multiple choice selection. None of which fix my problem. I am being falsely accused by a seller as filing some disagreement with eBay. I never filed anything at all. He had a lens for sale, I bought it, he got paid, I got a nice lens. No problem except for harassment from the seller two months later. And I can't find a way to report it to eBay.

I have been buying via eBay for decades and have found them to be helpful once you get through to them. I also since it started buy things paying with PayPal, eBay and other purchases. They are even more helpful and I have found them to be very pro purchaser. Yes, customs can be weird so I avoid buying from outside of the USA for the most part. Alas so items only seem to be available from UK, EU. Japan, China, etc.

Don't be so cryptic. Tells us about the harassment by the seller. What is he harassing you about?

This is exactly why I will not buy or sell to Canada. Things get hung up in customs for WAY to long.

Why Canada? I’ve had shipments from Europe, China, Japan without a hitch. They were amazingly fast, in fact.

Amen. They have gotten so bad that I rarely do business with eBay any more, as either a seller or a buyer. I use them only when I have no other recourse.

One of my greatest gripes is buyers who refuse to leave a positive feedback. Apparently they do not realize how important that is to the sellers, or perhaps they are just lazy. Whatever the reason, I have blocked more than one buyer who will not leave a feedback.

Duh. Of course. My mistake. Oddly there is a US customs in Ireland. Seen it twice. But my mistake. Obviously US. But my comments remain. It’s not an eBay deal so far as I can tell.

Right. Definitely not.

It has a lot of history and tradition behind it. For a fun waste of time, research "old school wi"s posting archive on his profile.

He will acoarst "leave" again, and then someday "rise again". The planet spins.

During his dormant spells, you can pull the stake out of his heart by discussing the industry-wide conspiracy to discredit Foveon sensors.

I recently had to return a purchase made on Ebay. I was given a Tracking # on my return and received a full refund very quickly. I was amazed!!

eBay and Paypal are NOT cojoined anymore. They used to be ONE, now they are separate and their claim policies sometimes difficult to understand and navigate.

Paypal allows a claim UP to 6 mos after purchase and eBay has a 30-day deadline to file a claim. The response to a claim is very much dependent on several factors, including the rep of the Seller and buyer, past histories of both, what type of item, and what the description and photos indicate.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties....Last year, I ordered a camera from Canada(Mississauga, near Toronto), and had no problems. As a matter of fact, I received it three days early.
