a bit of advice?

Ok...so I shoot now with a Nikon D60, which has made me a convert to the Nikon brand. I am looking to upgrade just a teensy right now to maybe the 3100. Someone said save just a bit more and go for the 5100. So here are my questions.
#1. What would be a fair asking price for my D60? Not sure of the shutter count and is in real good shape still. With the kit 18-55mm lens.
#2. If you shoot the 3100...like it or love it?
#3. Save a bit more for the 5100?

Thank you in advance for your input.

Me....I'd keep the D60 as a spare...and go for the D5100.... wonderful machine. Also what other len's do you have? You mite want to hold onto that 18-55 if you can.

the one I am looking at has the 18-55... I have a 70-300 and a 28-80 that I use reverse macro. I can't keep the D60 and have enough for the 5100, would have to tell it to make up what I don't have in cash.

I see. Yes....no reason to keep 2 of those around. Maybe look at a better deal with just the body.

A quick check of selling prices at KEH and EBay will give you a good idea of a fair asking price for your D60. Go with the 5100 if you can swing it.

d60 is selling for 320.00 - 350.00 used on Amazon. Under 300.00 on E-Bay with bag and all original accessories and memory card (some under 250.00).

Not sure what you can get for yours. 350.00 on Amazon was advertised as "like new" condition and even has original box on E-Bay at that price. I would expect around the 250.00 mark to be a more realistic selling price. Those cameras listed at or above 300.00 on E-Bay have no bids

Just checked B&H and they have a used D60 for 299.00. That would lead me to believe 250.00 is about right.

You can check your shutter count with the link below, just upload a recent JPEG and it will tell you, this will enable you to make a better judgement on prices.

Thanks Spaaarky...I knew there was an online site to check shutter count, but couldn't find my bookmark.

Consider buying the d3200 which is available now or the d5200 coming out (soon?).
