Focus Stacked Image of a Spider

This is a wolf spider that my grandson dispatched in his basement and saved for me to preserve. I wanted to see how it was holding up and stage it for a focus stacking session. It's set on top of a dab of plasticine modeling clay so that I could spread its legs out. I find spiders to be quite fragile and difficult to preserve for long periods so I don't get as much use out of them as I do beetles and other specimens.

What a cool shot! I thought of you yesterday....do you have a Hobo spider in your collection? We get them in the house every once in a while and I sent one to heaven yesterday. If you don't have one, the next one I find I will try and capture it for you.

Cindy, no I do not and if you would like to see one showcased, I would highly value having one to stage and share. Acetone fingernail polish remover on a cotton ball placed in an empty pill bottle dispatches them and it makes for easy transport.
