The specs are fine. I'm writing from an older XPS laptop now. Personally, I prefer a larger monitor, working at a desk with an external higher-quality mouse. So, you might want to look at a mouse too, a blue-tooth ergonomic design.

It would be interesting to see how much/why that computer would be better than my HP with I5, 12Gb RAM, 512Gb SSD, and Win 11 that was $575 US at Costco.
Maybe my requirements are not that great?

The 1TB might be a little not enough.
Todays programs will eat up a good bit of that. Try for a 2TB.
You might consider a 2TB SSD external drive. Costco has Sandisk ones. They had them on Prime for $180 something but are probably more now.

I have 1TB drives in both an XPS laptop and desktop. Now 6 years later, both are about 75% full. Never been a limitation with the caveat don't keep the image files on the local drive. Rather, use connected USB drive(s), where I use a pair of 4TB Western Digitals (WD), one primary and the second as a back-up of the primary.

Hi,

I prefer to store pictures on external hard drive leaving all the space for the programs.

That looks like an awesome LapTop. Yes, add a mouse! Is that model available in the USA from Costco I wonder?

Personally I have had the best luck with Dell, Canon, and Epson Computer products. Lots of problems with HP, Lenovo, IBM, and Gateway. Also I have not had a good relationship with Laptops of any brand. I am strictly a DeskTop / Tower fan now. My wife and I currently have two Dell Towers from Costco. Older Widows 7 Pro > 10 Pro Inspiron, and a Windows 10 Home XPS machine.

This appears to be a close match in the USA Costco system....

His would be $2254 USD and is therefore much more capable due to way faster processor, much more RAM, NVIDIA graphics separate from processor, larger SSD, 17" 4K touch screen. It's a screamer!

Ahhh. Thanks.
(I don't need a $2254 screamer, my $580 slowpoke does just fine. I do have a 16" touch screen, but still rather use a mouse.)

You are probably right with the 1TB. I have a 1TB SSD in my MacBook Pro and if I practice good image management, I usually have sufficient room. But then again, I have no need to shoot RAW so all my Images(for the most part) are jpeg.

He will have to determine his management habits as well as what type of files he shoots.

What software are you going to install to this beast? Office? PS/LR/Afinnity Photo?

That should be more than enough, consider maybe an external HDD to store your archive, other than that you should be golden.
