I’m not sure if this applies to anyone other than fellow Fujifilm shooters. On another forum, I have seen too many photos of cameras whose owners were unlucky enough to catch their soft release button on something at just the right angle to pop the shutter release completely off the camera.
Those buttons are indeed comfortable, and I admit I like the look, and I acknowledge the chances are I would be able to use them without incident. However, I am not willing to take the risk. Just thought I would share that with my fellow hogs who might be using them.

Funny, but that one reason why I've hesitated to use them.

Yeah I have used them on my fujis and haven't had that problem but I can see how that could happen.
what you did in the first picture is very abusive.

Tp the camera or the golf ball?
I've had one on my Nikon for decades. It's never been a problem. Probably due to the location.

When I post that I thought of the camera as he used the screw with wrong thread. The golf ball is meant to be beaten but now I think putting a screw right through it is painful.
I removed mine too. It’s one less step when attaching my cable release.

I didn’t know what you were talking about before the picture. I assumed that big yellow button was for old folks that can’t see where to put their gnarled arthritic fingers.
In the same way that you can recognize a biker by the worn black gear shifter mark on the toe of their left boot, all avid photographers have a big round callous on their right index finger. That yellow thing will eliminate that tell...and how are we supposed to strike up conversations with total strangers while standing in the checkout line at Walmart? The ring around the fellow’s right eye might not be from a camera but from a rifle scope, or worse yet a telescope used by a peeping Tom. I wouldn’t begin to know what to say to a peeping Tom except maybe what power telescope is recommended for scantily clad chicks that ride their exercise bicycle in front of the big window. And Tom might find that too personal or to be giving away trade secrets.

Crap now people are going to know how I got that circle around my eye. Busted. And so was she.
That metal cable shutter release makes it look like the camera is on life support and getting a transfusion. I hope it makes it!

I've been trying those little clear stick on "bumpers" on my cameras and so far like them. Have not had any issues with them catching on anything, am using the small 6mm diameter and 2mm high, very unobtrusive, but give me the raised button, easy to find while looking thru viewfinder, and easy to install/take-off. They are quite helpful for some of my smaller cameras that have shutter buttons that sit flat to the top of the camera.
From Amazon in this example - "Cabinet Bumpers Tiny Drawer Bumpers Pads ,Self-Adhesive Clear Rubber Dots Feet Tiny Bumpers for Furniture Table Laptop 200 PCS" - They give me a small raised button, good tactile feel, and the shape makes them less likely to catch on anything (plus they are clear). They may not be for everyone, but they work for me, cheap too (200 for $5). My $.02

If you or anyone decides to try them, just make sure the button area is clean (a little alcohol wipe off to remove oils from hands/fingers) for good adhesion.
Good shooting!
I put a drop of 'finger nail polish ' on.the thread.
