Not by accident. I’ve removed them from all my cameras.
I’m not sure if this applies to anyone other than fellow Fujifilm shooters. On another forum, I have seen too many photos of cameras whose owners were unlucky enough to catch their soft release button on something at just the right angle to pop the shutter release completely off the camera.
Those buttons are indeed comfortable, and I admit I like the look, and I acknowledge the chances are I would be able to use them without incident. However, I am not willing to take the risk. Just thought I would share that with my fellow hogs who might be using them.

Interesting feature. Any chance you can post an image of the soft shutter release button for non-Fuji users?
I didn’t know what you were talking about before the picture. I assumed that big yellow button was for old folks that can’t see where to put their gnarled arthritic fingers.
In the same way that you can recognize a biker by the worn black gear shifter mark on the toe of their left boot, all avid photographers have a big round callous on their right index finger. That yellow thing will eliminate that tell...and how are we supposed to strike up conversations with total strangers while standing in the checkout line at Walmart? The ring around the fellow’s right eye might not be from a camera but from a rifle scope, or worse yet a telescope used by a peeping Tom. I wouldn’t begin to know what to say to a peeping Tom except maybe what power telescope is recommended for scantily clad chicks that ride their exercise bicycle in front of the big window. And Tom might find that too personal or to be giving away trade secrets.

I am laughing out loud reading this. 🤣😂 Good thing I wasn’t drinking milk.
Thanks! Now I understand. You can put it on E-bay for those who lost theirs and want a new one. 😂

I had a nice black/silver one on my Fuji X-T2 and removed it for the same reason as you. It was the "better" screw in kind as opposed to the non-stick ones, but it stuck up quite a bit and was a target for bumps.
How many digital camera makes still have a screw-in cable release socket on the shutter button? I thought all went to an electrical socket for a wired or remote release.

Have one on my XT3. I’ve read in several articles regarding the issue you describe but so far I’ve been lucky I guess. I have some nerve ending issues in my hands and the addition of the little button makes life much easier for me.
They do look so retro and neat...and I could have put one on my Sony...but decided not to for one simple reason.
When I shoot...I keep my finger off on the edge of my button and roll my finger to take the shot...never down.
This looks great...but would not be conducive to my style..so I didn't.
Want sharper images?....one way to get there is to roll your finger...not press down.

I bought something very similar that used an adhesive to attach to my Canon shutter buttons. After about six months, I finally declared them “gimmicky” and more a hindrance than useful. So, off they came. But… have friends who swear by them as an aid in blindly finding the button with their finger.

The Fuji X series like that of the OP. The Leica M digital. The Nikon Df but that doesn't count as Nikon has dicontinued it. Strange that the retro look Zfc doesn't have the threaded shutter button.
