Fantastic set!!
Damned Thistles! a constant battle to keep them from taking over a small field, the smallest spines will pierce heavy welding gloves!!

I would figure so. I tried propping them back up with bamboo plant supports as they were laying on the ground. Wearing pretty heavy leather work gloves. Ended up wearing one glove & using the other like a pot holder to keep from getting stuck.

Love these, Tom! A goldfinch couple has been eating the petals of my orange zinnias that are in a big pot on the deck.

Thanks. Looking for seeds?

Nice shots. When I lived in Northern Illinois I saw many goldfinches but rarely see one in the Southern part of the state.

Far enough north, Y/N? Probably habitat.

great set, funny don't remember anything so nice when I was last at Ft Hancock (1965-1966) the only birds I aw then were seaguls and did not see any flowers when cutting grass aroung the barracks.

your last set from Sandy Hook were also great, might have to take a trip down to see if I cab fing what you have.

Thanks for posting

Thank you. More birds every year. Ton of pear cactus that usually bloom from around the last week of May thew at least june. Last year way into July. Wildflower= some come back every year & some don't, but others show up that I have not noticed before. Seems to be more birds every year. They close some sections during the nesting season. Have fun.

Again, at Sandy Hook with the purple thistle. It sat right next to an old gun Terrett foundation up in the paved North Beach parking lot of the Fort Hancock section. The stem of the plant has nasty spines & a couple of days later the NP maintenance crew wacked them down while cutting the grass there. They lay there on the ground with some life left in them, so some birders took them home to try & replant. Enjoy.

Great shots....love the 3rd one....
