A question asked in total ignorance, given some organs have over 5000 pipes, what does the organist have to do to select any single pipe to be played?

Those are all wonderful shots. I'm like you and NEVER pass on shots of cathedral organs. It falls into the category of "they don't make magnificent instruments like that anymore."

I was thinking that it would be really neat (but nearly impossible to get), to have a short recording of each organ's "sound" in your personal gallery (not here, iow)

Wow those are beautiful. I am also like the sight and sounds of a pipe organ. These old instruments are so ornate and well planed into the settings of the Cathedrals. Thanks for sharing with us.
