I love these flower portraits. They're unusual subjects, generally, for a 24mm lens.
Now that you have the hang of the lens, try to visualize these subjects in he foreground or corner of a longer shot of a landscape or more distant larger subject--like an old (you pick) Hackney cab, wagon, tree, barn. The near/far, front back, big small juxtaposition that this focal length adds a compositional tool to your bag of tricks--especially of a full frame sensor.

Thanks for the ideas and compliment! That kind of shooting is why I got the lens to begin with but haven't made it out to find the right scenes just yet. Love the idea and really appreciate your thoughts on how to really utilize its abilities. Canon 80D, so my crop sensor will have to do for a little while but a full frame is likely my next new toy!

I shoot the lighter version, the 77D. I find the 24mm really good as a "wide-normal" lens. And, it produces nice people portraits, too.
This lens will allow you to find a foreground object that's interesting on its own (AND forces you to find the foreground and frame accordingly) emphasizing a low point of view (using the flippy screen and a knee high camera position, close to the foreground feature) from there move around to frame a composition that includes the feature with a mid ground feature, on a good interest point (rule of thirds, golden whatever) and this produces a unique look for a photo of a scene that may have been published thousands of times. My EF-S 10-18 does this a little more dramatically, but the 24 produces a reliable proportioned result.

Good luck and play around with point of view, fully expressed scenes with fore, middle and backgrounds. SHoing scales and size gradations to draw teh viewer's eyes through the composition.

With a new 24mm Canon lens and very little time to dedicate to shooting lately, here's a few from our area.
Feel free to make any suggestions as this type of shooting is very new to me but I'm really excited for the possibilities with my new toy!
Hope you enjoy this colorful little set!

Wow! Absolutely beautiful, Rob!!
I just received a, new to me, 18 -200 Macro Zoom. Tiny little lens for what it is, I will start experimenting with it today! So far, some inside test shots are looking pretty good!
