Love the story. Lots of poetic justice there.

But then I started thinking about it, and something just doesn't make sense to me. You could certainly tell the cashier that you were also paying for the person behind you, but since you don't know what (or how much of it, for that matter) they want, how do you figure out the amount due? You could, of course, add 20 bucks to the total for your own order (and tell the cashier any overage was a tip for her or that the person behind you would make up any difference in the amount due), but then there'd be no fulfilled order waiting for you to pick up. What am I missing? (Before someone says it, no, I'm not missing a sense of humor--I love the story. But it just doesn't add up when I think about it a little more.)

Your story is my first really hearty laugh of the day, and might be the best as well - Thanks & "Good Job" !

Found this online today. While I would never do this, I had to share this on UHH!!

"I know I shouldn’t have done this, but I am 83 years old and I was in the McDonald’s drive-through this morning and the young lady behind me leaned on her horn and started mouthing something because I was taking too long to place my order. So when I got to the first window I paid for her order along with my own. The cashier must have told her what I'd done because as we moved up she leaned out her window and waved to me and mouthed "Thank you.", obviously embarrassed that I had repaid her rudeness with kindness. When I got to the second window I showed them both receipts and took her food too. Now she has to go back to the end of the queue and start all over again,

Don't blow your horn at old people, they have been around a long time.🤣😂🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🍔🍟☕️"

Good laugh mark. Actually, I will remember this for possible future use (and to the person that picked at the logic (1. McDonalds cashiers WILL know the order of the person behind you... and... 2. relax and laugh).

I have gotten take-out (from numerous restaurants), in the last couple of years, more times than the previous 20 years... but have never had the person behind me be rude. I am more likely to buy their meal due to my perceived opinion of their possible need. However, I have witnessed people in front of me being rude, even threatening, to the restaurant staff and I think back to the days that I drove an old junker... and that it would be neat to just push them past the window.
