I have two from DJI. One similar in looks to the one you have shown, and another called a pro that is larger. I have had both for years and never experienced a failure of any kind. Yes, I did pay more than $99, but it has been worth it. DJI has a number of models from the ones I have to very expensive models that are used by the video pros out there. They have gotten less expensive across the board, but still aren’t “cheap.” I have three batteries for each and they give me about 25-30 of continuous flight. They have a form of radar to keep you from running into things, but it does not work in reverse. Watch out for winds. Mine will travel at about a max of 45mph, but remember when winds are high, if you get too far down range downwind you may runout of time before you can get home. DJI has a return home setting that when activated, will take the shortest way home.

Good luck and have fun flying.

And since I was able to get it to power up and lift off my desk, I'm sure I'll be doing fine outside. But I powered it up via the "by guess and by golly" method. For the life of me, I cannot get the drone to power up, hence power it's two lights. What I'm desperately look for is a ""good"" instruction book. The pamphlet tell me almost nothing.

Some drones, especially those from DJI have a GPS lock that disables them from flying if in a restricted zone. It may have powered up inside your house because it couldn’t get a GPS location.

It could be that the battery is discharged to the point it will not power up now. Did the drone come with a dedicated battery charger? If it did, try charging the battery assuming you can find a way of either removing the battery for charging or plugging in the charger to the drone if the battery cannot be removed.

There is a big difference between a $99 drone, a $400 drone, and a $3000 drone.
My first model, a $90 toy, was defective from the start. I could control the altitude, but not direction, so it repeatedly crashed and ended up in a tree. I replaced it with a $450 DJI Mini 2, which can be precisely controlled and takes good pictures. Look into the DJI line. Theirs are at the professional level, in both performance and price.

In your pic, the blades are not in the proper position to fly. perhaps the controller can detect that, and will not allow it to power up.

I purchased one, though not a quad. I'm still reading through the FAA/NTSB flight restrictions, etc., prior to any flying.

Is there anyone else who purchased one of these? It has a nice HD camera built into it, and I thought I could get some unusual shots I'd like to have. I was able to get the drone powered up, one time, complete with two headlights, and I got it to fly, here in my den. So I grabbed it before it hurt itself. Could not get it started again. And even then, I just kept pressing buttons to get it powered up. The instructions are so utterly vague, it doesn't even tell how to power up the drone.

I'm hoping the answer is 'yes', so I'm asking: Is there anyone else here who has purchased a Quadcopter Drone?

Try YouTube. You can learn how to do anything on YouTube - except maybe brain surgery.

A $99 drone isn’t gonna have any of that stuff.

Honestly, I have no idea. There are no markings on it to indicate manufacturer, etc.

I meant if it's not a quad then how many rotors does it have? The term quadcopter refers to the 4 rotor helicopter.

The one I have has 4. My mistake on my initial post.
