In the past I have purchased from KEH with zero problems but now there are more choices.

Has anyone had a positive experience with MPB.com? Feel free to suggest any other online stores that you have received good or great service from.

Thanks,

Mike

I've gotten a couple lenses from MPB and they are fine although I've never bought a camera from them.
I would suspect that they are as good as their lenses .

Burkephoto, your comment about people with hard to find addresses, such as some rural places, reminded me of a story my father told. A man who lived in a tenant-farmer shack on a former plantation in the South (no street address) called the fire department and told them to come quick--his house at Davies Plantation was on fire. "How do we get there?" they asked, and he replied, "Don't you still have that big red truck?"

Instead of asking, "How do we get there?", the dispatcher should have asked, "Give me turn-by-turn directions to your house from ________."Those tenant-farmer shacks were probably slave quarters in pre-Civil War days. They were tinder boxes. By the time the big red truck got there, a tenant-farmer shack would be ashes.

Yes, having lived in NC/SC most of my life, I can believe that is an authentic scenario. It would especially apply in rural areas. They still have volunteer fire departments. And there isn't much mobile phone service in many areas.

When we drive from the Piedmont Triad to Florida from North Carolina, we go down US 1 through central NC and SC to get to I-95. Driving that stretch of US 1 reminds me of how incredibly different the rural and urban South can be. They truly are alien to each other.

"Reputable used dealers"

A.K.A. previously own kit? For my commercial work I only purchase previously own kit refurbished explicitly by Nikon and directly from Nikon USA... Zero issues, all have and still are working flawlessly.

Hope this helps... Wishing each and everyone all the best on your photographic journey.

Allen's camera out of Pennsylvania (outside Philly) has a great and large selection of top quality used as well as new gear of every brand. You can shop them online and/or over the phone, or in-store.

https://allenscamera.com/

Allen's is the favorite mom and pop dealer for hundreds of top pros and hobbyists, still family-owned . They carry every brand. It is the fav of this longtime pro as well as others like Jared Polin (FRO-Knows) who got his start working at Allen's .Jared frequently features Allen's and his yearly free contest top prizes are shopping sprees at Allen's

Here is a Jared Polin (Fro-Knows) video he made at Allen's in 2019:
Spending $1,000 CASH to make the BEST CAMERA KIT POSSIBLE | How did I do?

I buy ,sell and trade all my best gear there and have for the past four decades.

Even big boy Adorama Camera comes down from NYC and buys pristine used gear from Allen's to take back to NYC and sell in their store and online. I saw this a few times in person while shopping there at Allen's .

Allen's thoroughly checks and tests all used gear and only accepts and sells the best. I know because when I trade in my own pristine used gear to Allens, they still put every piece through the tests before they will accept it .

Look them up online and/or give them a call and ask for the owner Brandon. Tell him Gerald Williams and Fro-Knows sent you.

Here is one of my sites. Every one of my shots here was made with either new or used Nikon, Canon, Sony, Sigma, Tamron and other gear from Allen's

Thanks again everyone for all of your feedback. I don't think there will be any issues with the aforementioned dealers and yes, Thomas, I used the words reputable and used in the same place because of places like Abe's of Maine who seems to be just one of those places with very few positive outcomes and we need to be aware of those as well.

Ironically, Abe's keep popping up on the negative side of the spectrum for many of the 9 years that I have been visiting this forum. One has to wonder how they stay in business...

Thanks again, I don't anticipate any issues if I stick to the positive reviews.
