The drawback to that suggestion is "User List" is available only to those with accounts and only when you're logged in.

I suggest the OP makes more of an effort to carry his cards

Good point, since I always log in automatically I didn't realize that. On the other hand registration is free, easy and instantaneous!

But try this. Larry create a topic with your username in the title. Then a non-member can easily and successfully search for "imagemeister" and get to a link with your data; then click on "topics" to get to the list of your threads.

Figuring out how to game the system is as much fun as using it.

When I tried this I got only 28 images, a paltry selection and some not his work!

Then I would suggest this. Send them to "User List" and search for "imagemeister" which will return a page with a link to your name. Clicking on that link will return a page with your data, including "Number of topics created" which has a link to all your topics.

A bit cumbersome, but it's the best we can do right now.

Yes, non-users cannot access many of these places

See the follow up suggestion to create a topic with your username in the title, which will then be searchable by non-users and lead them right to your data page with the topics created info. No url required other than uglyhedgehog.com.

You could even post the link to your topics list, but I'm not sure if that would be a static list, or would update as you did more posts.

Does any one know why I do not get ANY search results when I search for (my) imagemeister topics ????

THANKS ......Larry
..

The easiest way is to click on your user name in any of your posts. You will get your user profile where you can click on a link for all of your posts or just topics you have created. Once you go to one of those you can copy the URL from the page where the list appears.

Your topics created (24 pages):

https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/user-topic-list?usernum=8242

All of your posts (1778 pages):

https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/user-post-list?usernum=8242

Both user sections (topics created, comments written) update without the link name changing, so a link would remain valid. I have my user info page bookmarked on my browser for quick view without logging in.

Thanks for the info; there is a good work around. All Larry (or anyone else) has to do is create a topic with his (or her) username in the title -- so searchable by non-members -- and provide the link to his topic list in the initial post.

I agree the search engine here could be more robust.

But in a prior life the IT people were always telling me that upgrading our web site's search function to approximate Google or other state-of-the-art engines would require much additional programming and new hardware, so was too costly.

In the UHH Search function here, I see there's a new option under advanced: user name. However, as the instructions mention, you will need to include another search word from topic titles.

Hi Linda good to see you here again. Follow up question? A few months back there was a server problem/upgrade and some of my old threads/photos disappeared. When I searched for old posts it looked like they only went back about a year or so. Has UHH dropped photos at a certain age or date range? Just curious. Thanks

Jim

The admin took my suggestion under consideration...

Search by name, then the section.
