No, but he had cerebral diarrhea of new ideas. He was also a rat who exploited a lot of other people, like Tesla and many others. So I don't admire him for that.

I don't have a PC with a 4K screen and the driver set up for 4K. I use a PC with 1080p screen and when I cast it on the TV it displays exactly what was on the PC screen. Doing so I have a lower resolution slide show than possible with simple USB card with image files on it. I will try to connect the TV to the camera like the way the OP did and see what happens. I think I would have lower resolution than just using the USB card. It's not about 4k or anything but it's about making a slide show that maximize the capablility of my equipment. That is the highest resolution I can with my equipment.
So while the OP may think he won the Nobel prize I don't think that what I would do for slide show.

The entire point of what I did was for the sake of convenience, using the camera's slide show feature and simplifying the hookup. Thus eliminating the need for a USB drive. My TV is rather basic, altho it does have an HDMI input. I have no idea of what the technical specifications are of the displayed optical image. It looks fine to me.

But will a USB driver allow organizing into separate folders for different subjects? I don't know the answer to that. But even if it does, it still requires you to get additional gear that you might not otherwise have.

A USB drive is like any computer drive. You can resize your images to match the target pixel resolution of your display device. You can organize into any / as many folders as desired. You can merge images from any number of different cameras / camera types. You can name / rename the image files any way as desired.

A little verbal warfare is useful for clearing the lungs and brain. People who disagree with my approach to displaying my pictures do not bother me. They have their way, I have mine. The ones I will gladly engage in verbal combat with are the pharisees and cognoscenti who first dismissed the idea as undoable, then, when proven wrong, find one pretense or another to diminish it, or me. En Garde, O ye of little moral courage !!

And it's a piece of equipment that I would consider it nothing. Got a lot of them for free. Although my TV which is a Sony bought 2016 I have no control of which folder it would show. It would show them all. But this doesn't bother me as I only have 1 slide show per USB stick.

Fine. Whatever works best for you.

Reinventing a square and calling it a wheel ... they don't give awards for those efforts either, at least not the kind of awards you want to acknowledge.

Sounds like a sore loser to me.

Do you have a computer or laptop with a USB port? You must unless you’re writing this from a cellphone. Even tablets have USB ports or available adapters. That’s all you need to create the USB drive. And does your TV have a USB port? almost every TV in the last 10 years does.

As I have stated before, I see no point in dealing with USB drives. It just adds more clutter. My method is as good or better, but it all comes down to what works best for you. I love onions. Maybe you hate them.

You have to use SD card any way what's the different with USB drives? They are just as compact as the SD cards and potentionally cheaper and you don't need the camera nor the HDMI cable. I was about to try what you said and I found I have to buy the cable. One doesn't come with the camera.

Your choice. USB is the obvious choice because both your TV and your computer have a USB port (and they’re a lot easier to deal with than SDs in terms of easily misplacing one), and the TV knows to play a slide show when a USB stick is inserted. With a USB stick, you:

1) download your images from your camera with a reader or a cable to a folder.
2) you add any other images you wish.
3) you copy that folder to the USB drive
4) you plug it into your TV

Btw, you can buy a USB stick for a couple of $ so cost isn’t an issue, which begs the question: how much is your time worth?

Or, you could start multiple threads, spend days and many dozens of emails and hours devising and debugging a strategy that finally works and declare it an accomplishment and spend another thread defending the choice.

Cheaper? How do? I already have the SD cards, the camera, the cable, and the TV. I need nothing more. Why bother with the added expense, work and clutter of anything else?? If you use the USB technique and like it, that is fine. I just don't need it.

I am not going to repeat myself endlessly. Your way is fine if you like it, but I don't want to mess with USB drives. Nothing you have said indicates their superiority, only that they are your personal preference.

No problem. Have a great weekend and think twice before asking for more free expert computer help.

I will have a great weekend, and I wish you the same. Sometimes when you ask for help, you get it. And sometimes you don't. It's a crapshoot, like everything else in life.
