Thank you Mark for sharing these, they're great photos, especially the Pleiades. What camera scope combination were you using?

Thanks for your kind reply. The camera is a Canon 300D, and the telescope is an 8-inch f/5 reflector type. The mount is a tracker, so it can follow a coordinate across the sky.

What is 'prime focus'?
What tracker was used for telescope?
What brand 8-inch, f/5 reflector telescope?
How was Canon 300D mounted to telescope?
What nebula in image #3?

Even just checking out this post was bad (good) enough but you guy really have the WOW factor.

Excellant pictures, beyond my comprehension.

I believe that is the Orion nebula.

The point of "Prime Focus" is located at the top end of the telescope. Light from a celestial object enters the telescope through the top, and bounces off the primary mirror at the bottom then back up to the prime focus (see diagram below). Originally, astronomers observed directly through an eyepiece at prime focus. http://www.ucolick.org/public/telescopes/shane.html#3foci

great images Mark! I have an Orion 10" reflector with Atlas EQ-G mount , been trying to use my canon 5d mk III with it and seem to have a great deal of trouble with focus,,, by prime focus do you mean camera adapter on focuser without eyepiece ? how long was your exposure of orion nebula? Stunning!!
