There are three photos in this thread. The first one is the original (with some slight LR adjustments.) I did not like the white speck that was the moon, so I used PS to add a moon that I shot a few years ago on Xmas eve. The second is the shot of the moon that was added to the third shot.

Thoughts?

I'm not an AA fan - but have a look at Moonrise over Hernandez before scrubbing your original.

The second moon looks a little "faked" to me, its size/prominence. Use it though. Colours seem a little muted and the shadows too dominating. These issue alleviated I think this image would be hugely lifted -just my view. Love the idea and look forward to any additions

Ask yourself "What leads me to add a moon ?" "Becuz I can" is the message that I get as I view your moon stuff.

The original had a moon but looked fuzzy. This was an experiment using PS to see how it looked and to get a little experience in PS, which I lack. It’s a bit too fake IMO. So I may just stick with the original or clone out the moon completely. It was an experiment.

"What leads me to..." An excellent question applicable to any editing we might have in mind.

Did you ultimately clone or crop to get rid of it ? (I vote for cropping.)

Also the day-night boundary on the moon is at the wrong angle. the moon appears to be lit by a different sun than the one that lights the buildings. That moon is also in the wrong place. Its not about astronomy. Its about consistent lighting for all the objects in the frame. The moon is just another solid object. It doesnt glow or emit light.

I haven’t taken the time to work on this little project. Traveling and got side tracked on a few things. I’ll try to get to it asap.
