My point is that if you don't get "tangled up with the bad side" then the perpetrators will just carry on doing it. The worst part of democracy is 'doing nothing'. Perpetrators actually do not like being pulled up with having their idiocy made public. Some of them might think that they are making a difference since it is obvious to them that somebody has/is paying them attention. A bit like answering the phone to a scam call. They then know there is somebody there. Call them on it. You might even get lucky and alter their behaviour (dammit now you have me looking at somebodies good side). Now I guess we are looking at levels of behaviour that are more serious than exhibited here on UHH but the principles are the same.

"No stupid questions" is like "The customer is always right" in my mind. The latter is patently false, as customers are wrong nearly as often as they are right. I may have (I'm retired) treated them as if they are right, but that has nothing to do with reality.

And don't forget the end of the "No stupid questions" bon mot, "just stupid questioners".

Uh, no! Obviously it simply went over your head. Really slow provincial village?! That actually sounds like it could be a bit of fun.

I guess you cannot recognize a mild reproach when you get one. There’s a book called a “dictionary”. Look up the inference of being labeled as coming from a “provincial village”.
Not exactly an honorific or a place that anyone other than a yokel would want to live.

You're simply not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you?! But a tool none the less. I happen to be from one of the wealthiest counties in Pennsylvania, and it's not a wealthy county because it's home to a bunch of dolts. Weez all be edumacated provincials wit callige degreze and plenty of smartz. A place where most of the yokels, which you apparently have a problem with, are smarter than you. So go ahead and continue to dazzle yourself with what you believe to be fancy words. They don't mean doggie doo doo to me. Sticks and stones Jackie, sticks and stones. Crap, now it's time to go cut the grass... I really should hire someone to do that for me. Oh well, it's not like I don't need the exercise.

1. Money does not equal education or smarts.
2. My “fancy words” are all in the dictionary. I am sorry if they are not part of your vocabulary.
3. Being yokel is a state of mind … regardless of where you live.
4. Being a dolt is another matter; and you seem to have mastered all the essentials.
5. Trading barbs with you is as challenging for me as playing tennis against a paraplegic.
6. Since you said you need the exercise, should I conclude you are fat as well as dumb?

Are you one of those angry old men who spends so much time on UHH because you have no friends and no life and nothing else better to do with the remainder of your worthless life than insult strangers? I bet you are. I'd feel sorry for you but you don't deserve even the least bit of compassion. You are a pathetic mean spirited person. You make jokes about paraplegic people, like it's supposed to be funny?! My wife was a victim in a car crash a few years ago. Her lower right leg and foot were crushed. She has a rather interesting collection of titanium rods and screws imbedded in her leg and foot and she has NO ankle because it was destroyed in the crash. She was the victim of a person who ran a left turn red light and swore she was not at fault, except there were witnesses who all said the large vehicle that slammed into my wife's small vehicle, definitely ran the light. The woman never even got out of her vehicle to see if the person she ran into, was ok. Well, my wife wasn't ok, and she's still not ok to this day. She had several surgeries to attempt to reconstruct the lower leg and ankle. She was in a wheelchair for almost two years, basically a "Paraplegic" before she was again able to actually stand up on her own and walk with a walker. She still can't walk any great distance or for any length of time and when we go out, I always bring the wheelchair, just in case she needs it. But that's ok Jackie, go ahead and make fun of paraplegic people. Ha, ha, ha, you're so smart and funny. It shows what kind of person you really are and that's not a kind person at all. Jackie...!

I agree. Making fun of ANYBODY is not funny, but please, try to see the good side of this thread. We have been called "stupid, dumb, yokels and fat".

All of that has taught us who the kind hearted members are and who the rude ones are. Now we know who to ignore in the future.

Happy Easter everyone!

I agree with your agreeing with me. Unfortunately, I too could be one of those people you referred to. I don't know if you read my updated response but it explains why I don't find the OP's remarks in the least bit humorous or even a tiny bit appropriate.

I don't find them humorous or appropriate in ANY situation either. It costs nothing to be kind. As my father said to us as we grew up, "Be kind or be quiet."

I see your update now and I'm sorry that happened to your wife, but thank God, she regained some strength. There is always something to be thankful for.

Happy Easter to you both. Be blessed.

Thank you for your kind words. Something else my wife can no longer do is ride a horse or her motorcycle. She used to love riding. She will ride on the back of my motorcycle but she doesn't ride hers anymore because it's too difficult for her to shift gears. I told her I'd get her an automatic but she said she's fine with being the passenger on my Gold Wing.
Considering the extent of her injuries from the crash, it was more than just her leg and foot, I'm very thankful to God and the doctors who put her back together. Especially the surgeon who reconstructed her leg and foot, he did an amazing job. I remember him telling me in the hospital, after the reconstruction surgery was completed, in all the years he's been a surgeon he's never reconstructed a lower leg and foot that was as damaged as hers was. He said that usually when it's that bad, they remove the foot and replace it with a prosthesis.
Anyway, have a great good Friday and a happy and enjoyable Easter. We're doing the egg hunt and Easter dinner this year. I'm looking forward to photographing the grandchildren as they hunt for and find the Easter eggs that I've deviously hidden. Should be a lot of fun...

What a blessing to have wound up with such a great doctor. I have never ridden a motorcycle but I'm OLDER than dirt (84), people mistake me for 60, I feel 25 every day of my life and still ride horses. My list of blessings would reach the moon and back...maybe several times. I often feel that there are never enough hours in a day to be thankful enough for all our blessings. My prayer would be that you and your wife continue to be blessed for many, many years to come. Happy Good Friday and may you have a very Happy and enjoyable Easter.

My wife and I are in out mid 60's. I've ridden motorcycles since I was 14 and my wife had ridden horses since she was a child. She competed in the Devon Horse Show a few times when she was younger.
She always enjoyed riding passenger on my motorcycle and decided she wanted to learn how to ride herself. I bought he a new Honda Rebel 250 to learn on and she rode that bike for a couple years. I then bought her a Kawasaki 500 and she rode that bike for a while but began to develop balance issues. I added a "trike" kit to her bike and that resolved the balance issue. It's called a "trike" kit but as it consists of two outrigger wheels, it's actually a quad kit as the motorcycle has 4 wheels, the two motorcycle wheels and the two outrigger wheels. She rode that bike for several years until the car crash. She actually did try to ride again, about 3 years after the crash, but since she has no right ankle she found shifting to be rather difficult. She actually attempted to ride her motorcycle before she got back behind the wheel of a car. She still rides passenger on my Honda Gold Wing. Happy Easter to you and yours...!
