I have so many, I'm just putting them all out there! There will be more to follow!
So I am totally learning about atmospheric conditions. These photos were my second visit to see the cranes. The first I thought the photos were ok sharpness wise and assumed the distance was also an issue. I went the second time and this group of photos turned out much sharper. As far as I know I did not do anything different. I went back the 3rd time and again, soft photos. Was it atmospheric conditions or what could have been causing the difference in photo quality. It is possible I did not use as good a technique with the tripod the first and 3rd time. I do think the birds were slightly closer the second time, this group, but not by a lot.... any thoughts on what I should look for is appreciated!
I like the heart on the head!

Really nice! Where did you get them?
Love these birds. Noisy, though. You have some nice clear shots here.
Love your images . . .you never fail to impress with your BIF and land mammals.

This was in Montarosa Vista Colorado. They are about gone now.
Beautiful images as always!
Another gorgeous set, Beth! With respect to atmospheric issues, Steve Perry's website has a short post on problems that can occur shooting in cold weather with a lens hood that you might want to consult.

Fantastic images, Beth! I don't have an answer to your question but would also refer you to Steve Perry's discussion of the topic.

These are beautiful shots for sure! It's that wow factor for me when they're in action, if you will, that make them even more appealing. Cute captions never hurt either!!
Well done Beth!

They seem to prefer level grassland.
Beautiful shots of courting and bonding behavior
