I just purchased the OM-1 with 12-40 lens and couldn't be happier. Already have all the Olympus lenses I need plus the OM1 E-Markiii now as a spare. Lightweight and takes wonderful images. Previous Nikon user since early teenage years. Camera and lens weight became too much of an issue.

I have been a Nikon devotee for almost 50 years. I changed to mirrorless with the Z6. I have since acquired three Z lenses as well ss tge 24-70 kit lenses. I retained my D500 as the AF system can’t be beat. I traded in all my DX lenses, except for my 10.5mm fisheye and an F mount 70-200 f/4 constant aperture. I want to upgrade the Z6 body but in my view the Z6ii is not significantly different. I don’t need 45 megapixels with either the Z7/Z7ii or the Z9. The Z9 is. Hefty piece of equipment with a commensurate price. The Z lenses are very sharp! I do find today that the camera manufacturers are in reality marketing companies increasing sales though offering only very slight modifications in the products. What can a D850 do that a D500 can’t do and the same question for the rest of the line up?

am tired of waiting....and I am not getting any younger.....I am 74!!!

I even sent a letter to Nikon saying that I had been a customer since 1972.....they don't even care!

Welcome to my world, only 4 years later( I'm 78 & still booking jobs) ! Did the Nikon call in trick , while they were very polite & professional, They really didn't care how much Nikon eqpt & for how long. They told me 9 weeks, but i am seeing other's with them. Guess i'll tough it out with my3 ,D500's ! NO Sony, in my future !

While the Z9 is definitely a big upgrade, depending on what you shoot the Z6II can also be a substantial upgrade from the Z6. While the focus tracking isn’t Z9 level it is much better than the naysayers think and a big step up from the Z6.

I'm 76 and I want a Z9....and if they come out with a Z12, I'll probably want that one as well. What can I say, I'm a gear junkie and we gear junkies don't have to make any apologies!

Keep busy trying to exhaust all the possibilities of those fine cameras you already have. If just having mirrorless is where you want to be, other Nikon mirrorless short of the Z9 (in weight and price!) are fine cameras. A Z6II with the new Nikkor Z 24-120S will be an awesome first step into Nikon mirrorless!

I guess I would end with the z9 because of the economic build body. I didn’t had ether one in my hand but the Sony a7 III didn’t fit comfortable in my hands and how to reach the certain button and wheels wasn’t for me......

My sympathies ... hope you fully recover.

Poor baby, all of 74. I'm 91 so hang in there. If you switch to Sony you are even dumber than I think you are.

And ooooooo, those Btards didn't respond to your letter, "they don't even care" ROFLMFAO

Go ahead, switch to Sony. But do us all a favor, don't post complaints about them because I promise you, they don't give a good Gd^mn about you either.

Read reviews about both cameras and decide for yourself!

Not enough info for a decision.

And generally what they’ll say is they’re both great cameras and neither one is reason to switch from the other.

You know I am 76 years old and sold my D5 & D810 plus almost all my G lenses to get my Z9. I currently use my f2.8 24-70mm and 70-200 f2.8 lenses with a FTZII adapter waiting for my new Z lenses. A side note: I used my 200-500 with a FTZII adapter and a TC 1.4 on a BIF trip. Worked like a champ. Was it worth the change to mirrorless - You bet your A*s it was. I would NOT change manufactures if I had that much gear from one manufacture. I did not change to Sony because of several factors. One being it cost extra for a vertical grip, not to include all the lenses I would have to replace, and learning a new menu system to mention a few.

I can recommend the Z9 hands down. However, there is a learning curve because of all the different configurations available. Just like any new camera, things will be a little different from what you may be use to. That holds true regardless of the camera you choose. Happy hunting if you choose to proceed with selecting a Mirrorless camera

Clearly the Z9 is all you will ever need. :)
