......... Some interesting perspectives so far.. I think that it's the nature of Forums though..

I post an occassional image...... hardly anybody comments and I usually have to comb through three pages to find where it's fallen to.. :? It seems by a couple of comments though, I shouldn't be posting any images "just to share"; so perhaps I should stop.

It seems that there are dozens of "please critique my photo" threads. Sometimes I look at those images and wonder "Does this person really want critique, will they be offended with what I have to say." or, are they really wanting praise for what is a very mediocre photograph ??

Tough questions to answer before every putting pen-to-paper..

Perhaps a photo would get better "critique" if some information was provided along with the image.. background, time-of-day, exif information and what the photographer thinks needs improvement...

Anyway, the best way to improve is to keep taking photos and posting, regardless of how many "comments" develop.. unless that's the point of posting.

I've had my time on this forum tons of great people and love coming here, but one big issue is one of that "I must have done something wrong or said something wrong". If so I'm sorry, but if honesty hurts then it shouldn't be able to be critiqued. I've taken a lot of my time to try and help, make suggestions, and so forth for people whom ask. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to. This makes day 3 that I have posted and asked for critiques and so on, but have yet to have any reply other than today and that was by two of which I got great help from, for them Thank you! But then seeing the way bob is now treating people not that he's back and everything else I've been seeing, I want nothing more to do with this forum as it's headed down hill. As for bob, someone made an adjustment to your photograph and you flip the walls and leave the forum then come back with this big bad john attitude, it's sad... Good luck to all of you and happy shooting, but as far as I'm concerned, this forum is a waste of my time and knowledge, I refuse to help those whom won't help me. It's part of life, I know, but it's a part of life that I'm moving on without dealing with. It's not worth it. DB your great, love your photographs and I really like you as a person, thank you! Rach! Same goes for you, I think your doing great and thanks for your kind words! Sinatraman, another awesome person, thanks for all your help you've been great from the beginning. For the rest of you whom helped me and took the time to comment or critique my photography, thank you! You all are great people but, but I'm done on this forum. Good bye and wish you all the very best! Happy shooting all!

William, I'm truely sorry you feel that way. I myself have been a victim of others trying to pick fights and bulling me. There are some very pathetic old crows on this forum, who have nothing better to do then pick on a person who has already appoligize to the offened. They are not good kind people, their mean, evil and spiteful.
What I'm trying to say is I understand. Bulling, snubbing and all around nasty behavior is at an all time high.

You have honored me by listing me as one of the people who tries to be helpful. I always try to be a kind person. I also am big enough to turn the other way when others are deliberately trying to pick fights. As you have been, I also have been snub. But, it's really becoming a Who, who. Some people get mad at a person because they don't agree with their point of view. Later they act very childish and snub them because I feel they must see themselves as superior. ( they are truely not a superior, but an inferior person.) I think they know that deep inside.

You will be missed. Hopefully you will stay. I really enjoy your photography. Your very, very good.

Hello J, I am a relatively new person here and I can see where you are coming from. I only have one thing to say to you. Your squirrel photograph made me smile and I thank you for that. Sorry that you are leaving, I would love to see more of your squirrel images.

I want to make this offer to anybody. If you post something for critique and you get little or no response send me a private message with the title pof your post and I WILL look it over and post a response, even if it is only a wonderfull colors type comment if i think the shot is perfect the way it is. Some types of photography I have little to no expierence with such as portraits or still life. I will comment anyway. I do not want to see good people leave simply because of the overwhelming number of posts coming in like the later rounds of space invaders. This applies to anybody on this site. newbie oldtimer anyone in between, even those who hate my guts, I promise to give an honest opinion.

I, too planned on leaving (not that you actually can unless maybe you note the admin), but I bounced it off one of the members and realized that it's some, not all that would keep me from staying. More like few, not many. I like to check up on the new posts and such. The ones that are constructive in this group are really the only ones I need to mingle with. Don't let the few break you.

I think it's just a growing curve, soon the ones that are only here for ego stoking will fade away and we will be left with those who are truly here to learn.

We just have to wait it out.

I agree the few with an attitude will lose interest because actually learning isn't what they come here for. Please don't let a few bad apples spoil the whole batch. There are those of us here that appreciate and welcome any and all input. Taking advantage of the wealth of experience on this site is how we are going to continue to learn, grow, and truly experience all that the art of photography has to offer.

Hey , I'll miss your posts, you've had some good ones.I have been here a while and must of did something wrong,It seems like the word is out not to talk to me but I have a pretty big immagination too.I'm learning a lot from most of these people and it's quite a civil and tolerent bunch.Don't let your feelings get hurt,it's photography, not sociology 101.

I could not agree more. What has happened to this site? I was excited to join and have met some really cool & nice people on this board. I know that I came in with a " please give me a good critique" attitude, but have since changed my mind. I want to know what I am doing wrong. Like you, I posted last night on a picture I was proud of and nothing.

Please don't leave, I really enjoy your pictures. I just can't add anything but a "great job" or "I really like this one the best", because you and so many on here are way out of my league. I could not possibly give you advice on how to take a better photo.

Please don't leave.

Thank you for your kindness, but I have no reason to stay without proper respect from others. Critiques are great and everyone whom ask for them, should get a response within a proper time, but 3 day's is not proper, it's more insulting than getting pure bad feed back...
Does anyone know where I can find the stupid link to unsubscribe?

I honestly think what happens here is that so many people are on the site, that if you don't check in a few times a day you miss a lot. Photos, C&C, gets pushed to page 2 and 3 and so forth so very quickly. And who has time to be on this non-stop? Don't leave the site because of that...just repost your photos or title the subject NEED HELP FAST. Or something like that. I do know a lot of people have left, in fact someone who had mentored me on here is taking a break. I get frustrted sometimes when threads get "heated" and people loose sight of the topic. But, for now, I plan to stay too and I don't know you, but hope you stay too. Cheryl

[quote=WildBill]Sorry you are leaving. When people ask for CC on their photo's I do not chime in because I am far from a professional and do not want to make a suggestion that misleads. When CC is requested, I leave that for the pros since they can actually give criticism that will benefit. If others are doing the same, that would explain why you do not get a reply.

I'm in total agreement, WildBill. I am not a pro either, and feel odd giving very detailed critiques. I enjoy looking a the photos, don't comment on all of them, and offer opinions when I feel the urge.

I've just joined and have little expertise, but I'm saddened to see you go even though today is the first I've heard of you. Your three parting shots are masterfully done IMHO and I wish I could see more. You should reconsider leaving because there are many of us who feel you are a big part of why we came here.

I've been an observer of the human condition my whole life. It's in the nature of the beast. And one thing I can say for sure, it's not going to change. People are people good and bad.
I have avoided most forums due to disrespectful conduct by others and never stay long even when I do find one I like.
It's sad to say, but this one is no different. I have had to dodge the snide comments by ego driven bullies. People who drag in "other than photography topics" And those who read something else unintended into my posts. But most of all, getting ignored or only receiving 1 or 2 replies to questions can really suck.
All that being said, where else can we go? I think the good folks out number the surly ones. But like you, I'm almost ready to bail.
