If you look up the definition of "Professional" you'll find this word relates to people who perform certain jobs for pay on a regular basis. The tools they buy and use for their jobs has a huge window ranging from cheap to expensive, depending on the quality of the "Pro". Sometimes cheaper tools perform as well as "Pro" tools.
There really is no definition of a Pro tool in marketing, but all the quality "Pro's" know what they are.
The word "Pro" might even be a shortened version of Problematic or Profane, and many other words.

I got to retire from the cops here in Australia and a "pro" was a slang term we used Australia wide that ALWAYS meant 'prostitute'. The irony of this in relation to this thread, I find, (drum roll, wait for it.... ), ironic.........

After having worked in the photographic retail biz for a few years, I can say that with very few exceptions, one should avoid any product with the word "Pro" in the product name.
The real way to tell professional-quality stuff is usually the price!
So I bought a Manfrotto 055PROB ( I think those are the right numbers ) and it has the word pro in the description. Should I have gotten something different?
Eight out of ten doctors prefer Camel cigarettes :D :D
People in general are unbelievably stupid. Just look around, most should not be allowed to vote, have kids, or drive a car. But then again, if one would take out all the idiots, competition would be very tough!

I do, it has to be perforated and be 2-ply.
You can tell 1-ply folks by the look on their faces.
And the colour of their fingers! Lol
When digital was first coming into it's own, they just put the word "digital" in front of everything and doubled the price. Digital tripod? There's an ad on TV at the moment for a kitchen roll with 100% larger sheets which are perferated in the middle so you can just use half a sheet. In answer to the original question, YES I think a lot of people are.

Obviously it's what you need for your digital camera. Isn't it?

Sorry, JR1, I don't mean to be ugly, but 'buzz' words in ads are almost as annoying as people who don't proof read themselves before they hit the send button. "were thy staff" Did you mean "were they staff"'? But then, I have been known to miss some of my own. Sometimes I have a red forehead from smacking myself there when I notice that I have missed typos in things I have posted.

Some folks bought digital antennae to replace their old ones when TV went to the digital format.
...and that is where the 'EDIT' button comes into play!
Save your forehead.

I'm surprised Fuji and others don't advertise "Digital Film."
Thus the term.......wait for it....."MARKETING PIMPS..."
