Thanks to all who responded with helpful hints. However, nothing seemed to work.
I ended up finally upgrading to Lightroom Classic. All my photos were still in the "My Lightroom Photos" folder on my hard drive and I am slowly importing them into Lightroom Classic.
Funny thing is, most of the folders are imported intact with all the edits I've made to them, keywords, and descriptions included. But occasionally a folder is imported ... photos only, no edits, no info. Can't figure out why, but fortunately only a few are that way.
Thanks again for all the help.

You don't need to reimport. When you started the newest LR
Classic, it should have detected your existing LR5 software and that LRCAT and prompted you to migrate that data into the new LRCAT. You're really off on the wrong path if you're doing this manually.
Suggestion.
1. Stop all manual import / migration work.
2. Find the best functional LR5 LRCAT backup. Identify the folder name and the file name.
3. Confirm you've installed and are using LR Classic from the Help Menu of the new software. It should be v11 something, maybe v11.2
4. Start a new LR catalog inside the new LR software. File / New Catalog. Let it default to the Pictures\lightroom folder, but give it a new descriptive name like "Lightroom-Catalog-Feb2022.lrcat".
5. Import your exist LR5 catalog into this new catalog. This is what LR should have automatically prompted you to do. Staying inside the new LR-classic, use File / Import from another catalog, and navigate to the LR5 LRCAT identified in step 2. Let this run to completion. Check for any missing images, Library / Find Missing Photos. Also, make an assessment of how 'complete' the old LR5 catalog was in terms of most recent work (step 7).
6. For all your remaining old LR5 LRCAT files, especially in the \Backup folder, place these into your long-term backup storage in case you need to revisit them.
7. Inside LR, sort your library by the capture timestamp and review the newest entries and confirm where / how much of your most recent images might be missing. Import those images / folders into your new 'master' Feb2022 LRCAT.

Don't think I'm overstating it when I say this collection is priceless.
