Super Bowl National Anthem

I don't watch the Football bowl games!!!
But I did hear part of the National Anthem on the news yesterday.
While the Artist has a very nice voice she doesn't have the range for the Anthem, She started out pretty good but by the end she was screaming.
I have heard others that were good, This year's artist was not one of them,I listened to the full performance just a few mins. ago by the time it was over my ears were hurting.
I'M sorry but I grew up hearing Kate Smith singing the Anthem and nobody measures up to her!!, when she finished I had goosebumps, a tear in my eye and smile on my face.

Today's artists usually torture the anthem by adding their own interpretations. Warbling, yodeling, and screaming. Some may like it. I don't.

They have no voice training and try to make the song fit their voice, if they have one.

I like Whitney Huston and she has a great voice but I dissagree aobut her version being the best. Her stylizing just ruined it.
Kate Smith did both!!!
BTW I listened to a YouTube of Kate Smith, I don't know what was wrong but the orchestra sound was terrible.

What really pisses me about celebs who sing it is that they think they wrote it, and literally bastardize it into something that is not even recognizable. The reason its done acapelo is that the vocal range is so great that it can not be sung well by most vocalists if they were to use musical accompanyment. People of color sing it the worst. They make it sound like they are having a siezure.
For me, America the Beautiful would make a better anthem, and its eaier to sing by most anyone.
